OMG,

Went to a new site the otherday, and my word, i got a list aslong as my arm why it SHOULDNT be open.

1 > They never Chronographed the markers from own gunners
2 > inssuficant reff'ing (they had 1 ref to 18 players)
3 > now this one yuo'd laugh at if it wasnt so stupid !

Went out for a game there was 23 of us, and one ref (turns out the ref was a 16 y/o kid. we walked out to the game area. had the game brief and sent the teams of to there start base. As the teams turned to start walking the ref decided to light up alod of the players, so they all turned round and blasted the hell out of the kid. Needless to say the kid ran back to basecamp, and me and my 3 mates ended up marshalling the game (as we're all marshall's at another site)

Anyways i've since found out that that particualr site is now being sued for a eye injury of some discription. Will let you know more about that when i found out the exact details in more steail.

Well first, refs don't have time to Chrono everyone's marker unless theres a concern, and field can't afford to have a ton of refs. Although that particular ref sounds like a noob...

not sure, proberbly the same as what we do at outr site. At our site the marshalls carry spare markers incase one of the rental markers go down in the middle of a game, but we do keep them unloaded and de-cocked.

we'd have chronod our own guns if they had let us (although we know they was well wqithin the limits anyway) and as for not affording a ton of ref's. I thought it was basic practice to have at least 1 ref to every 10 players?

There's absolutely no reason why a field can't afford safety. It's a lot cheaper to hire 10 refs than it is to pay out $1.5million because no one enforced basic guidelines.

Sounds to me like a field that opened for profit rather than for love of the game.

Not really. We generally do about one ref per every 20 or so, but the group actually determines the number of refs. If they show themselves to be total idiots, then we up the number of refs. Or they are tourney players, always yelling about checking people, playing on with hits...
