Would it be worth a sniper to bring a grenade out onto the playing field?

Please discuss. Any helpful tip of when to use it or dont use it.

Thanks

In paintball the real role of a "sniper" is more that of an ambusher. (is that even a word?) I could definately see how the use of grenades would help a "sniper" with their chosen role.

I wouldn't use a grenade in an ambush because think about how you use it. You have to unwrap it or whatever (makes noise), have a clear opening (you are easy to spot), and make a drastic motion (throwing it - gives away your position). Definitely not a good idea in my opinion.

i would take a grenade with you, Ze J does have some valid points but i believe a grenade could be used quite effectively.

before I step foot on the field, i prep the grenade, only have access to Tippmann Squad busters so i prep it by giving it a shake, pulling the plastic mesh off.........so all i have to do is pull the pin and throw.

now Ze J's point of throwing, meaning movement = giving away your position is valid, however i would only use the grenade if there were multiple targets in close proximity of each other....and if they were either moving away from your location OR if they are facing away from you.

yes the survivors will figure it out that it came from their rear, but in that inital confusion and panic, should give you enough time to continue your ambush and eliminate a few more players or bug out
dont make people a priority, who are only making you an option

Yeah, now that you mention it, if conditions were right that would be quite effective. Just don't get excited to use the grenade and try it early. However, if there were people facing away from me in close proximity to each other it would make more sense to unload on them (not bonus balling). Then again, I use an electronic marker so it depends on your setup etc...

In some scenario games a sniper can take out a team's communication satellite or other important prop on the field with a grenade. It's also fun to throw them and just watch the havoc!!! IMO, Definitely a good idea to have one.

I would bring a nade... maybe a small one, but probably a big boy... (while your at it, bring mines :) )

Just unwrap the nade a head of time because they wont see you for a while so you dont need to worry about it bursting... you could always carry it in a bag, like in your hands (man bag :P ) so if you dive it doesnt burst. But if you start getting shot at... duck behind a tree and get the Nade out, chuck it, then pop out and shoot at them... Sometimes they will start to freak out when the see a nade so you can get a shot or two even if it doesnt burst...

Aren't we supposed to stay concealed. "Oh look some bush just threw a grenade...Wait a minute.....put put put....." We trigger ambushes, we're not 1-man ambushers

Oh jeez...

Sniper doesn't mean you can only use certain things and you must have certain others...

Go riiight ahead. Carry one. Anyone and everyone can use a grenade.

did I die for a second there?...

I thing that I haven't seen in any of the threads I've read yet is anything about smoke grenades....I've seen ppl talk about the advantage of having a gun that can really lay down the paint if you get caught up in a firefight...but One tactic that is used alot is a covered retreat... If your position gets blown or it starts getting a little hairy after you've picked off a few ppl and the rest start zeroing in on you...it's a good idea to have a smoke nade with you.... Lob it on out there as close as possible to your persuers....it will cause confusion within their group plus give you the opportunity to retreat or reposition and flank..... any thoughts?

A smoke grenade might be a good idea too. Although i know that most fields wont let you use grenades with fuses (ones you have to light with a lighter) so you would have to have the canned stuff.
