have you had the receivers apart, or did it just do this without any previous work on it ? .. are you low on air pressure ?

If you remote line knob is turned on too much it blocks the air from the tank. Back off the remote on/off knob a bit or try just the tank on the A5.

When you pulled the trigger with the air hooked up did it make a weak popping sound? If so I am willing to bet that the main spring and the cocking knob spring were switched. I did that once on accident.

If the output on the CO2 tank is only 500 psi, the guy at Dick's ripped you off. Either that or the gauge is broken. If it really is only an output of 500 psi, the A-5 won't cycle as they require around 800 psi... due to crap tolerances though, some require more & some less (not including LP modded A-5's).

QFT - did that myself once. Worth checking out 13.

What he said plus is your gun properly cleaned and oiled? If you get the gun real filthy it might do what you are describing as well.
