ok, so I just finished painting my "Dagger"

It is a 2 piece barrel so I can unscrew the end and just use the barrel back. yes it does work and is reasonably accurate.

colors: (all krylon brand) satin ivory, satin pistacio, ultra flat earth brown, ultraflat khaki (aka camo tan), (a little bit of) celery gloss, and matte clear coat.
I used all male stencils cut out of painters tape.

Definitely tough trying to match actual colors w/ rattlecan choices. You did a fine job.

Digi is a tough pattern because to really nail it you have to do a lot of overlapping of patterns. Plenty areas of just the field left w/ no breakup. Not saying it's bad, actually yours looks just about as good as any other I've seen! Omnipat is also tough because of the fades. I can't tell for certain, but it seems like you may have done some green to tan on the hopper. If so, +1 :panzer:.

Congrats on accomplishing a tough paintjob... feels good, doesn't it?

thanks, ya I tried some fades but because I couldn't really paint them with the spray can (very good that is) so I went in afterwards with a paintbrush and touched up some fades.

btw I took some pics of it in my backyard to see how it blended.

it doesn't match the green grass to well (but then again I took the picture from 2 feet away) where I usualy play it is mostly dead and brown. so it should match fine.

Omnipat definitely isn't the easiest camo to take on thats for sure. I spent countless hours getting my mixes just right and I'm still off by a little bit.

You did a great job for what you had on hand. I would suggest in the future purchasing an air brush kit and giving that a shot. You have so much more control with an airbrush or spray gun.

Thanks again, I have a friend who has a airbrush kit. I know If I asked him he would loan it to me. so I might try that in the future. also when that omnipat x7 in your sig came out I (figuratively) drooled all over my keyboard. i have a x7, i like it alot. although i don't think I will paint mine. because I have alot of attachments that I reguraly switch out on it.

Your paintjob looks immeasurably better in natural light. Amazing how bad a flash can make a paintjob look!

Fading is difficult w/ spraycans, but not impossible. It's much better obviously w/ an airbrush kit. I actually got lucky & found a spray tip on a Rustoleum can that worked well at fine spraying. I switched it to other cans as needed for fading. Just an FYI...

I remember seeing this over on model98.org You did an outstanding job, especially for omnipat. Though I don't know why you didn't paint the front grip, but the again you painted the hopper as well as the barrel which I think is stupid when people don't do that, ....and now I'm rambling....anyways, good job man

I didn't paint the grips because the krylon wears off of them very fast. also my hands covers them up anyways.
ya, for some reason my gun really got dis'd over on model98.org I still don't know why.

That doesnt really look so unbalanced even though it has a backwards tank - and youve got a stock on it.
Hows it hold?

acctualy because the weight is still on the rear grip it is still back heavy. although not to the same extent as before. I like the way it holds really well. obviously this mod isn't for everyone but I like it alot. also because it is more ballanced there is alittle bit more weight on my left hand(I am right handed) It doesn't bother me though because i am used to carying arround a big x7 with a 24oz tank screwed on to it.

The backwards facing tank (Hawaiian style) is the quintessential "Dagger" setup as defined by Special Ops. I've yet to play that way because I run remote, but I've heard plenty of good things about it because it does get most of the weight off the back of the marker.

The model98 guys didn't care for it? What's their deal? I've only lurked there a couple times, maybe they are just like the A5/X7OG crowds... lots of milsimmers. If it isn't an accurate MP5 mod they don't like it as much - not that there's anything wrong w/ that. Not so much on here, especially this sub-forum... we just like the pretty colors :D.

Speaking of colors, I noticed the T8 painted as well. Why didn't you do the other one? Or is that on the to-do list?

Hawaiian style? this is one of the more negative comments from model98.org

Quote

i dont like anything about it. the tank being backward is stupid, hopper sucks, platniums suck, and the paint looks horrible becuse the grips arent painted too.

your m98 looked alot better.

acctualy the og's liked my gun alot. eventhough it really isn't milsim at all.

I didn't paint the second t8 because it is a limited eddition nickle alloy t8. one out of only 121 made. I don't want to risk damaging the finish.

Hawaiian style is what that tank configuration is known as... I have no idea the origin.

Those comments are rough man! Just saying things "suck" or are "horrible" are not signs of constructive thinking. That sounds more like a troll than anyone who knows anything.

Ahh, I've seen that nickle T8 in another thread, just didn't realize it was your thread. From those particular pics it didn't appear nickle, obviously you'd never paint over that .
