Just wanted to throw my small review on the Apex, maybe help some of the newbies out there. Lets get the basics out of the way:

1) Distance - Distance is great on this puppy. Especially with the flatline setting. It shoots well over 250 feet. The best Ive got was about 320, but Ive heard that it goes higher (plus you have to take windage in effect)

2) Trick Shots- Ok, so the trick shots were'nt really what I bought the gun for, I bought it for the flatline, but when I started using the hook shots, I loved the barrel even more. Its all about getting use to the barrel, once you get use to hook shooting, it makes it very hard for someone to hide from you. The dive bomb is also a great asset. No more hiding under logs and rocks.
Its all about getting use to the barrel. It probably wasnt safe, however, when you do get use to it, you can start spinning and adjusting on a whim to get diagonal hook shots and all that fun stuff.

3) Ball Breakage- Ok, heres where I have the issue. Not that this is a bad thing, but I ran through about 2 cases of paint and broke about 10. Now I know the first question your asking is "What kind of paint?" I was using Marbs and El Tigers. Tigers would bust on the top part of the barrel, marbs would just come out of the gun and bust...dunno why. However, every ball I broke was when I had the dial set to MAX (10 I beleive). To say that balls break on the 10th dial might be stretching it, but thats when all the breaks occured. I set it down to 8 and it worked just fine.

4) Weather elements: Ok, Ive used it in all kinds of weather. However, do not use any fancy thing on this barrel (save the flatline) on windy days. Wind tears the hook and dive shots up.

Overall I give this barrel a 9/10.

Yea, the only time i've noticed breaks in it so far is on the highest level setting. Although not many breaks occur it still does seem to do it with a variety of paint when your making it spin that much. The plus side to this is that it usually breaks either just as it's leaving the barrel or after it's out of the barrel. This means it might have broken, but there's nothing to clean up inside of it. I only had one actually break on the rubber part and a quick swab with a battle swab it was fine. Great barrel, i just recommend not using the extreme all the time on the dial setting, just goa click back and i've never had a problem yet.

if marbs were breaking in the barrel, before they got to the actual apex tip, its safe to suggest that the paint may have been a little snug in the barrel for whatever reason, this would would have an effect on breaking in the apex tip.
i have also heard that the newer marbs, for whatever reason, haven't been as nice of a paint at before??? anyone?

nice review, very helpful for people looking at the Apex.

ok, i love my APEX! here's why!

I out range my friends 98 flatline by far, and am better in accuracy. It also outranges hammerheads (not on accuracy though lol)

The hook shots aren't my fav in dense woods because u blow way to much paint on trees trying to figure the shot.

The divebomb comes in tremendous handy though when shooting over a ridge/hill of over a bunker or tree.

ONE PROBLEM! it does break paint when turned up all the way on flatline, but at mid seting it's fine and ur still passing the A5 flatty.

Overall im gonna say 10/10 on looks, 10/10 on preformence, and 8/10 on ball breaks

Well, im glad to see im not the only one breaking. I was getting worried there for a while. But I usually keep the dial on 5-8 now, does a great job!

mod it to a better barrel and you will have better accuracy
mod it to one of te best barrels ,ad have one of te best accuaracy ,i modded mine onto a custom products 2 piece .in stock setting its very accurate,in flatline its a huge improvement ,in superflatine its starts to suffer but still better than the stock apex barrel.

How did you mod it to fit other barrels. I can see how I might do it, but I'd rather not reinvent the wheel if you know what I mean.

I just got my APEX barrel, and at first I was disappointed. I found out later it was because I was shooting it in a crosswind. I shoulda known that was the problem being a flatline owner. Anyhow, once I got it on the field, it performed much better. I don't know that I have enough paint through it to claim that its more accurate than the flatline, but I do know that it performs similarly, and I totally agree with most the people I've seen talk about how it isn't picky with paint. That feature alone is a selling point for me. I'm pretty certain the APEX is going to be a key part of my equipment kit from now on.

i have noticed the cheaper the quality the paint the better the barrel does as for not chopping

Hehe so I have proven that buying the Apex was a great purchase. Just about all the reviews said it was great, and mine will probably be the same. Although I haven't tried it yet, (I'm getting a C02 refill tommorow and marballizers should be here soon) it looks awesome. I have studied how it works and looks very reliable and just plain awesome. :(
It also quiets the marker a lot in my opinion; I have an A-5 which is quite noisy, but this has seemed to quiet it down a bit.
