I am not dividing up the markers into Custom and Custom Pro, if you prefer the Pro just vote 98 and explain why you prefer the pro. I have fired both and played with my 98 for a while and I played with the AB once. I prefered the 98 personally, far more customizable and easier to learn about from all the other players with 98s. The second question is which is better specifically for sniping.

Go with the alpha. It's basically a milsimmed 98 custom, and for 150 you can get one with an egrip. A 98 with an egrip is 200 on the same site. I think the alpha is one of the best deals out there and in the long run you will be able to do more with it.

I have not even seen an alpha but I own the tippy, in all the videos online you see people with either a tippmann with stuff lumped onto it or a barely recognisable speedball gun. (which I don't recomend) I'd go with the more recognised tippmann anytime though, but if you can find the Alpha for a steal of a price then you should get that and then if it sucks, just sell it for the same price that you bought it for.

They are the same marker, performance wise. Alpha black just looks like an m4 out of the box.

True, if you don't like it you can seel it. But it IS the same.

Barely recognisible speedball gun? How so? I think what you call "speedball" guns are way more individual than most scenario markers.

the 98 is alot better. with the alpha you really can't up it the want you want or your style of play. the way you buy it is the way it stays, but with a 98 you can change it any way possible

The 98. They perform the same, but the 98 does it without going into MilSim and adding weight. Same performance in a lower weight, lower profile (sight rail and fake magazine make the AB taller) marker means it's the superior one. But I consider the BT-4 superior to the 98 as well, even though they're also functionally identical. Higher quality manufacturing, better feedneck design, and more intelligent gripframe design. If I had known about the BT-4 before I bought my 98 I probably would've gone with it instead. But that doesn't matter now as I sold my 98 in October or so anyway.

if its just a regular scenario match, it dosent matter what one you have. like mentioned above, the AB and 98 have the same proformance standard. sniping is alittle different. the 98 can be customized more than the AB, making the 98 more consistant, reliable, better avalabillty parts, better barrals.

why cant they bring back the pro lite, my pro/carbine id pick for sharpshooting anyday.

98's are the best sniper gun. I use on with a rt and a BT 1913 Barrel. I am more into ambushes than sniping so the rt comes in handy. When I want to take one out at a time from a distance the 1913 works great! Plus I can become a heavy gunner whenever I want! 98C by far!

Being slightly biased because i own a 98...lol.....

I feel that the 98 will do whatever a recreational paintball wants it to do. You can mod it to help with problems YOU have with the marker. Don't like iron sights? Get a red-dot/low mag. scope. Wanna go remote? Get a remote and stock. Want more range? Go flatline (but be prepared to lose a little accuracy with less than average quality paint).

Firepower may be the 98's biggest weakness. If 8bps is too low, well consider ditching the sniper mentality.

Ultimately...buy what you want to get out of a marker. Match up features of a marker to your strong points.

Ok i know what you are all saying but i say the Alpha Black is better. You can do anything you want to it. just buy a $10 AR15 rail drill a hole in the carry handle and you can attach a scope. it has 98 threads. it has a e trigger. i THINK you can put 98 stocks on it. as for weight the AB weighs a quarter of a pound more than the 98. And the internals are the same. one guy put act into his alpha.
Dont worry im just a bush with a gun

i have a 98 custom and i've seen the alpha blacks and the only problem with them (besides the fact that they have army written on them) is u cant change the look of the gun to much.. so ur stuck with that style, which sucks if u want to mod it or make it more like a rifle.
