I was thumbing through an old photo album when I came across a misplaced picture of me taken at Ground Zero, during my units deployment on 09/11/2001. It gave me an idea, anyone who has, or is currently serving in the Global War on Terrorism, could come here and post a photo with a short description. Here's one of me and my battle buddy with the wreckage of The World Trade Center behind us. I'm on the left in the kevlar, and wearing one of those disposable yellow rain ponchos that the Red Cross was handing out. Post up fellas......

My buddy Landers, his comment on it is "Now where did I put that blasting cap?"

Lastly my best friend from childhood Bowe working on a gun for his battery, will be coming home this summer.

Sorry I don't have a more current picture but this from our build up before deployment in 03 with 3/1, I still owe those two a drink:

They all came back for Memorial weekend, after close to about 10 years in service we all agreed to that these are our last contracts. To much has changed in our lives.

This is a picture from North Ft. Lewis before we went over to Iraq. This is 3rd Plt. A Co. 1/161 War Pigs. My boy Purdy, whom my thread about the sad new was about, is in the front row to the left (as you're looking at the pic) of the kid in yellow. The guy at the very far left (as you look at the pic) is Sgt. Whitesinger. He came to us from Ranger Batt. and the dude rocks. He's also a grade A but hole LOL. But he knows his stuff, and I've always been glad he was in ou Platoon. We called his squad the Gazelle Squad, because the dude ran, and ran, and ran during PT. His philosiphy was that if you could talk, or sing cadence, you weren't running hard enough.

This is a pic of me after a hot night out (in more ways then just the temp.)

This is a pic of my buddy Porkchop (Bennett) on the gun, my Medic, Murry (Or Furry, chewy, or just Doc.), and me in the Drver Seat. I believe we were on our way out to a raid.

We called Bennett "Porkchop" for the obvious reason that the dude is HUGE!! LOL, we called him that so much that when a Sgt. from another unit asked him his name he said "Porkchop", and the Sgt. said, no, your name, not your nickname. And to this Porkchop looked at his name tape and finally said "Oh, I guess it's Bennett" LOL.

As for Doc Murry, we called him Furry, because the dude has hair everywhere. His fellow Medics called him Chewy as in Chewbacha LOL.

This is me out at Butler Range, not too sure exactly where it's at, I just remember it's somewhere south of Solmon Pac. We had a 2 week guard duty deal out there. We thought it was a vacation though. 2 weeks in a place where nothing ever happens. It was eerie because it was very quiet at night, we had gotten used to hearing the gunfire all night and Mortar fire. It was a nice 2 weeks! We got the opportunity to learn all kinds of different weapons that the U.S. doesn't use while we were there. We got to fire an RPG, AK-47's, RPK's, AK-74's, and a Sten Submachine gun (no idea where the Sten came from). That was kinda cool.

This is after we got back, we were doing some Riot training and SPC. Graves (Picture) got a little physical LOL. We got a little Physical back LOL

He went to my highschool. I didn't know him but I had some friends who knew him really well. This is the best picture that I could find but we have a nice plaque and picture/frame at my highschool.
