We all know what tomorrow is. Who else has, or is getting, the stout, corned beef, and colcannon ready to go?

Was going to be but has too much school work -_- and I only just started kind-of drinking beer (went from Strongbow to Rickards), so that says something.

I had been convinced I had super-sensitive tastebuds to hops cause I hated the bitter taste of beer - made me gag...still kind of does (the stout ones, anyways) but I'dve done it.

EDIT: Is green whiskey allowed? Ah well, not conducive to studying.

I still haven't figured out where this Corned Beef thing came from. You know, traditionally, hardly anyone in Ireland ate beef. Cows were for milk. We eat Pigs and Sheep...

corned beef is an American only things. Irish don't eat that crap. Just we do. Like "Chinese" food, real chinese people in China don't eat General Tso/Gau chicken or beef teryaki. They are purely american twists on the Chinese culture. We just tried to make corned beef irish. I am assuming Immigrants from early days in America ate it cause it was cheap or something. And it just carried on. Like Owful (sp?) foods (pigs feet [trotters], pig snout, and other parts of the animal you wouldn't readily want to eat.), they were eaten because that was all the person could afford, and just cause they did it so much, it became a tradition.

In other news, I drank enough Murphy's and Guinness to drown a leprechaun. It had been a while since the last time I did that. I was still kinda hungover Saturday morning.

Drinking water and pissing like a racehorse eventually cured it. It was funny that Friday night that me and the only other white person were both hungover as hell and working the same side.

They didn't eat corned beef that much to my knowledge, but Guinness Beef Stew was somewhat common in pubs and the like. Stew meat, potatoes, onions, carrots, and some of Mr Guinness's magic elixir. Season to taste. GOOD stuff.

Again, Beef is a "new" thing to Irish cuisine. Like, 50 years old, tops.
I called my Grandmother to get a "traditional" beef stew recipe for work, and she told me there's no such thing (except with more words).
Luckily, we're doing a lamb shank special, and I've been saving the trimmed off meat from that to do something with. So I had enough for the stew.

Regardless, corned beef is delicious. I will agree with that.
