Has anyone on this forum been to Philmont, or better yet, planning on going this summer?

If you don't know what Philmont is, it's a high-adventure Boy Scout camp where basically you just hike 50-150 miles through the Rocky Mountains while lugging around a 40lbs pack.

Oh, crap. Pull out the hard questions.

It is my first time. I don't remember how long the trek is gonna be... if I go looking for it I can find it out. We are leaving the last week in July and getting back the first week in August. You can tell I am real knowledgeable about this, right?

Lol, I wouldn't want you to be my navigator.

I'm leaving the first week of June. We'll be one of the firsts up in the mountains this year.

I have not been but I know some people from my troop that have. One of my friends is going this summer. I want to go some day, its like the OK D-Day for Boy Scouts, its big to do and you have to go at least once.

This will be my third time. I've gone on a 75-mile trek, 99-mile trek, and this one is a 125-mile trek.

I think they are trying to plan another trip sometime in the next year or two. Are you going on the canoe trip?

So to the people that have gone, which side of Baldy did you go up/come down? I came down the North side, and almost literally slid that entire way.
