There really isn't a way. You're best option would be to buy a rail for the type of sight you want to use, and either weld it if you're smart with that, or use a strong glue (epoxy?). I don't know much about it though.

It's more work than the effort would be worth.

Go to a paintball pro-shop that's big into milsim. Tell them you're poor but are looking for a Picatinny rail to bolt on your marker. They'll either give you one, give you a deal on one or tell you where to find one.

My local field is selling off oodles of their old markers - War-Sensor stuff with lots of rails. There are spares kits with rails just laying around. For a few dollars - like, the money you'd find in a couch - you could probably get one.

What kind of sight do you have and what are you trying to attach it to?

i accually thought of this one earlier today, it'll probably end up costing you more to make it than to buy it

get two small scope rings and two 3-7" sight rails. just the rails, no mounting brackets. bolt the two mounting brackets together so you have rails on both sides, then put the scope rings on one side then slide over your barrel and tighten it down, thus a barrel mounted rail system, probably not shat you want, seeing as you want to use a scope on it, but useful if you want to put on a laser sight or flashlight.

many airsoft websites have them for cheap plastic or metal
i think ShortyUSA.com has a few in thier accessories
as for mounting drill/tap the body depending what you have it doesnt have to be deep 3-5 threads if you cant do it have it done ask somebody with a press who could

gule even epoxy looks tacky and will possibly come loose over time. imagine that sight falling off at just the wrong time

edit: i just read that you have a 98 custom they have a short rail on top you could use that but if its not big enough some sites have adapters i think Opsgear.com that connects to the stock rail and has a weaver on top

I work at a shop that makes these rails all day long and it's a lot of work, especially if you want an offset rail. Expect to spend about $30 on a rail and most likely unless you like using glue, you'll need to have access to a dremel, a drill, and a tap and die set.

(if you use glue, please make sure you have a way to set the sight absolutely straight parallell to the barrel and use something quality like gorilla glue, not super glue that will break off the first time you look at it wrong)

its not that hard if you have the right equipment. just take a block of your choice metal, probably aluminum, and then use a milling machine to cut out a rail profile and carrying handle or whatever of the size that you want, then use a drill press and taps to put in holes for set screws

and if your going to use a mill here are military specs for a rail. its fairly easy to make on a mill if you know what your doing.
