Just wonder if anyone else suffers this 'withdrawal' feeling when you haven't been to a field for about a month, or played in about that long  .

I know i've got a serious jones to at least go back to my home field, or play a game or two, but the weather hasn't cooperated lately (that big snow storm we got dumped more snow on top of what was already there, so you couldn't even get into the parking lot  ).

Dunno if it's the fact i'm itching to work on a few projects i have waiting out at the field (my project tank for one :P , or i just want to be around the people out there again, who knows.

Am i strange because of that? :P

Nope, perfectly normal. I couldn't play ball for almost a year at one point due to knee surgery. Sucked balls. Hated every day of it. But you get back to it eventually and all is well again. Hell i just got back into playing 1-2 times a month for the first time in a while, and now i am out again due to surgery for the next few months. Sucks, but you deal. When you get back you just play enough to make up for it.

Plus you can still play indoors. Speedball is a great way to pick up many skills you'll never be forced to learn in woodsball. I love playing only speedball in winter and just about only woodsball in the summers (still play on the speedball courts for 1/2 the day, but its all outside).

I checked out a questionable field last night. I want to play again but an old warehouse with a leaky roof and a paint covered interior carpet just wasn't tempting enough. Speedball in the winter does have some appeal though. I'll just have to drive farther away and get an electro.

Somehow i figured it was normal lol :P

I've been to the field since the new year, but it's always locked up tight (we're only open every other weekend during the winter); since that's like a girl being a tease, it's only making the problem worse :D

There's only one other field in my area that even has an indoor facility, and besides that, i don't own any electro markers...well, not the 25+ bps rope slinging type :D

Plus i need my stress relief back lol B)

You don't need an electro to play speedball. All pump speedball is my favorite form of paintball.

As for not being able to play for a while, that just helps keep you interested. If you play every weekend, it can get old. It is healthy to take breaks. It makes you even more excited for the next time you go and play.

Ive felt that way for a while... not so much because I havent been playing, but because I havent been 'improving'. I have the drive to go out and learn and do better, but no where to learn. I mean, i can play and all, but it isnt the same as drilling and having someone correct you and really noticably getting better... Idk, im just in a hurry to DO SOMETHING that matters in paintball, you know?

Yeah, but i started to slow down my playing after the last MissionMasters scenario game in October, with sporadic games here and there on weekends (the field's employee game comes to mind...played that day with a pistol :D )

Around Pittsburgh, it seems using a paint slinging monster is the only way to play speedball; i've heard of a pump and pistol league around here i think, but i'm not looking for league play. Just looking to go out, play a couple games, talk, laugh, carry on, and maybe have a couple cold ones after it's all over. B)

I feel you on that one Becc (and relax Legato, it's not that type of feel; she's too young for me anyways :D ); it's not just paintball that i feel that way, it's in life as well: that feeling that you aren't doing something you should be, or you're missing out on some sort of sage advice or training.

And here i thought it was bad enough i was experiencing this; you're nine years my junior and already showing signs of a quarter-life crisis! :)

Anyway, if and when i come out the other side of that tunnel (that sounded very dirty :P ), ya'll will be the first ones to know. In the short term though, the only thing i'm worried about is getting through the week :D

Find a D2 or D3 player at your field and shadow them. Ask them for tips, try and get them to drill with you. If you need to get with a more serious team, one that's really trying to make a name in the paintball scene. If you play with people who are good, usually you'll pick up on their skills.

I haven't played since the spring. I've wanted to, but I just haven't had the money or the time (when I had the money, no time. Now I have time and no money). We were going to play today, but the weather was gross. But yeah, I've got a Cocker pump ready to go when I finally play. Trying to get a Phantom for even more limited ammo play.
My job is to be an asshole. I excel at the position.
