My dad was on a train to Tokyo at the time, so he's ok - missed his flight from Tokyo, obviously, but coming home tomorrow from somewhere else.

Google has a link to resources you can use for this. http://www.google.co...nquake2011.html

That's a big quake. Tsunamis will hit Japan, but will they make it to the North American West Coast?

Supposed to be 3 foot waves or so - warnings for whole west coast and South america I heard. Hawaii got hit (or will be) by 7 foot waves and I hear a 4. something earthquake started in one of the volcanoes. My grandparents are there ><

Japan was hit by 30 foot waves, and 6. something aftershocks.

We got the tail end of the tsunammi here in Santa Cruz...3 ft surge, damaged some boats in the harbor & a few docks, but that was about it. No deaths/injuries.
Not much of a wave...until one considers that it started 8000 miles away.

2 blocks from my house...the wave in the video was one of several. 2 docks destroyed, 30 boats sunk, dozens more damaged.

Yeah, I don't have to worry much about a tsunami coming off Lake Erie.
