i have my 2 new (to me) tippmans. Just want to know waht everyone thought about the barrels on them? one is a 14in j&j, and the other is a 16in smart parts.

Also i would like to know how to oil them up.

thanks and any comments would be a morale booster(being new and all), or be appreciated on how to upgrade them.

You can take them apart and oil the valve and bolt o-rings when cleaning. The least you should do is put about 3 or 4 drops of oil in the ASA and dry fire the marker. Any extra oil will blow out so take the barrel off first. Also you can cock it back and put a drop or 2 on the rear bolt o-ring.

The SP one looks to be a Linear barrel. I acquired one a while back and actually enjoyed using it. After I got my J&J Edge Kit, the SP barrel does not get much use anymore.

One of the best parts about the 98's is they are great to tinker with. I have one set up as my "carbine" and one set up as my "SAW" and one waiting for me to tinker with. My wife has one that I did a little work on also. If you ever get brave enough there is a lot of metal that can be hacked off.

If you keep with a stock mechanical trigger you can stick to a Revvy (if you can find one) or get the Invert Reloader2. If you do not want to worry about batteries you can get the cyclone feed kit for the 98 series. If you go with a response trigger or an e-trigger then I would get something along the lines of the Halo Too or a Velocity. I would stay away from the evolution (evo, eggy, egg) as the feedneck has a high risk of breaking.

i got a 98c as seen in my sig...

first thing you can do is take it apart and polish the internals (google it)..... simple, free and supposedly works and you can oil away...

i got mine with the Response Trigger so I kept it....but added the cyclone feed as i dont want batteries.... also the x7 low profile hopper gets you with a better hopper that isnt so square as the cyclone stocker....
if you go with RT and Cyclone dont forget you need the kit for that ($20) and it comes with 2 different sized fittings.. use the bigger ones and it is called Super Response Trigger (goole that too hah...)

Enjoy!!!!! Cant wait to take mine out in a few weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
