This just pisses me off, today at lunch I'm watching the news. Turns out there had been a shooting at Fort Hood, here in Texas. It said 9 had been killed and 11 wounded. As time went on the numbers grew to 11 killed and 31 wounded, the shooter was an Army Major getting ready to be deployed. Somebody said that he didn't want to be deployed and thats what caused this tragedy. But these people he shot were people he was serving with! Brothers in arms, the people you can count on when the poo hits the fan. I just have no idea why somebody would just turn on the people he serves with. It scares me to know that there are people like this in our military, people who are supposed to protect the citizens of the United States. But whats done has been done, all we can do is wait and hope that the 31 people he injured pull through. So anyone who has friends in the military, supports the military, or hell just anyone, please put these individuals in your prayers and in your hearts. They are in mine.

I heard about this, I think that the idea of going to a place called "The New Vietnam" has serious psychological effects on someone and would cause them to do things that they normally would never think of doing. Maybe he thought that he would save them from going over there, its ass-backwards yes, but people think that they are doing something courageous and helpful when really, its the complete opposite.

What i dont understand is how he was able to gun down 11 people and hurt 31 more IN THE MIDDLE OF AN ARMY BASE?!! Granted that the soldiers dont have there weapons right there, but it took them that long to gun the psycho down.....

It is truly a sad day in America........ ;)

It'd be just like a gunman gunning down 11 people in the middle of a normal town. I don't think you really realize how a military base works....

It sucks. But some people join up with the mentality that they wont get shipped to a hostile area.

What a FRAGing wimp, rather kill fellow soldiers than go and fight like an honorable solider.

My condolences go out to all the families affected by this tragedy.

It's just really hard to believe this happened. I thank God that the people I know who are normally stationed there are currently overseas, a part of me thinks that they are a little safer over there at least for today...

I was told that the gunman went straight to the armory and he failed a psych evaluation and he didn't like what they had to say. Again I ask that our hearts and prayers be with the families of the victims.

In the middle of a normal town, the inhabitants are not all people fighthing for their country, they are normal people, like you and me. A military base is a town, with people who dedicated their entire lives to protecting the rest of us. It is certainly a sad day when a gunman guns 11 people in some small town, but when a U.S Soldier turns on his own men at his own base, that is far worse in my opinion.

Maybe i'm over reacting because I had a friend die in military service, but I'm amazed that you take this so lightly Flippy.

I think Flippy was responding to that with his comment and wasn't downplaying the tragedy. He was just saying that a military base isn't unlike a town and that was how it was possible for the attack to happen.

I'm surprised you're taking it so seriously. Life is one long joke. What's the point in taking it so seriously, it's not like we'll ever get out alive.
