I was thinking of getting a vest
- are they worth it?
- do they work?
- does wearing layers work just as well?

I am assuming you mean a protective vest... to me? it's not worth the money. Put on a hoodie, sweat a little, it'll save you the pain of being shot. Which is a whole other topic...

Are you new to paintball itself, and are afriad to get shot? Don't be, if you are new, because you're adrenaline is pumping so much that you don't feel it. Trust me. invest in gloves to save your fingers, or a pair of slider shorts.

did I die for a second there?...

I voted yes to the question unclear of what you meant, now I'm going to have to take that vote back...now that I know what it is you're talking about.

Like it was stated here, a good hoodie will save your butt just as much as your protection vest.

You'll be better off with a tactical vest, carry your tank, pods, etc...and it'll still protect you from the sting of a paintball.

I personally welcome the sting. Bring it on!

dont waste your money on a protective vest, if yer gonna spend money on anything as far as a vest goes, get a tac vest of some sort, NXE has one fer like $40 that may not hold a lot, but i think it'd do the trick, and it looks fairly cushioned where it covers you, but a protective vest is just a waste of money... in my opinion, and im quite certain in most everybody on here's opinion as well

you,ll know if you want one after you play few times. you,ll never need one. once you play awhile, you wont even register a hit as pain.

I wear a T shirt under BDU's. It works ok

If you play well with cover, you really shouldn't take many body hits anyhow. I always take mask, gun or limb hits.

Ya dont even waste the money on getting one because it is way cheaper just to wear a tshirt you already have bought. Yes the do work, my brother had one and he couldn't get any thing to break on his chest are. Also layers do work as well just you will sweet alittle more than what you normaly would.
