I think that Smart Parts realizes the potential in Mil-sim and once again may try to sell them some random and virtually useless product. I came across this early this morning.

http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/paintba...activ-clip.html

So they may come out with a pnuematic-clip-fed marker in the near future.

It probably be an SP1 with a mag.
That'll be one ugly gun.

Not sure, but it actually sounds pretty interesting. There are no real existing products on the market that could possibly overlap this patent, except maybe an obscure, never-used hopper by APP that only works with a few blowback markers. Of course, mag-fed never works that well in paintball due to size constraints of such a magazine. Unless it's a pump gun, it's just gimicky.

Wonder who they'll try to sue with that patent.

Compact cyclone with eyes. Sounds like the RipClip. Then again the RipClip uses Empire Reloader internals, so they might get away with it.

Looking at the patent drawings from MCB, i noticed they're using a SP8 as a testbed platform...which honestly dosen't surprise me, it'd be an excellent testbed for this. What has me confused is how they're gonna feed the marker air, given that a clip-feed will go in place of where the reg is.

It'll be interesting to see what they do...if anything. afterall, Didn't they just try and patent gas-through pistol grips? I ain't seen or heard of a marker from them yet with that.

Good point. They could be just patenting this to be doing it. Just so they can sue someone in the future.

I would love to see a mag feed EP. I just would like to see an EP designed for scenario. And I dont mean a tactical Ion. I want something fully customizable like your A5, but Electro Pneumatic. Something that you can do add on parts and make it look like an AK or M16... I think its time the scenario players have the things the tournament players have but in a package designed for us. If SP is the one to do it, then they would take a big step up in my book. Id rather it be someone else, but...

For those wondering how the air system will work since the magazine is where the Regulator usually is, Smart Parts recently filed for Patent the usage of Air-Thru grips (like the Invert Mini, the early Tippmann Markers, the Epic, and a few others). Now that I see this, I bet they're going to stick the Regulator in the grip.

No, this magazine isn't like the RAP4, because RAP uses springs. And I believe ATS uses a mechanical system to turn their belt when the marker fires. Bolt goes forward, pushes the belt, belt turns and when the bolt goes back it feeds the next ball. Or something to that effect.

No, for once it looks like SP has come up with a design that hasn't been done already. At least not to my knowledge.

By the way, a bunch of people flooded the patent office with e-mail, faxes, etc. showing that Smart Parts attempt to patent the air thru grip was total BS. Last I heard it had been denied.

Hadn't thought of that...but then where's the board gonna go? Unless they've decided to use some of that empty space in the SP8 body that drives me nuts... which is a possibility, given how the board is set up... hmm.

I'm sure they've realized how much heat they're taking from the whole patenting fiasco, and wanted to turn their PR around by making something original and beneficial to the mili-sim community.

...or they're plotting about which company will fall to their lawsuits next.

either way, give credit where it's due. SP was original for the first time in a while with this thing.

They are not 100% original. There was something very simmilar that was done by tippmann and patented about a year before hand. I don't really care about this one though. If it makes Milsim electro I will be happy because then a bunch of other companys will follow suit and milsim will be a little larger of a market.
