Yeah his race is a small factor but it's not the deciding factor.

@ Outlaw

I never said it was the deciding factor, I am simply curious why it is a factor at all. Race has nothing to do with my election choice; it is all a matter of personal philosophy that falls more in line with McCain than Obama. If Obama and matched on more issues than I do with McCain, then I would vote for him with no issue. What I see in America today (I can't speak for Canada) is racial solidarity (voting for someone because of their ethnicity) being politically correct. Minorities can be derided by their own group for "acting white" and "betraying their people" something I find extremely offensive. Need I ask the obvious? What is wrong with "acting white"?

So when Outlaw comes along telling me "I can't relate to him because my skin isn't the same color as his" I get a little...riled. How is that attitude not racist? Are you referring to slavery? That would assume that whites have never been taken as slaves. What about civil rights? Again, that would assume that whites have never been systemically denied rights by a government. Both assumptions are false, which again leads me to ask the question "What makes you think I can't relate to you because your black and I'm white?" I am still waiting on an answer for that.

@ MDK

I do value myself as a "Real World" person, and I accept this as reality. My point is the double standard - why can blacks and other minorites openly proclaim racial solidarity, and yet if I said "I'm voting for McCain because he represents white interests" it would be assumed I am a racist? You want to vote for someone because you think they'll represent black interests? Fine, do so. But for the sake of consistency, look in the mirror before calling someone a racists who does the same thing.

(Note: I am not implying Outlaw called anyone a racists or inferred it. Rather I am speaking of the ubiquitous "they".)

Well, the sad part is, bigotry and racism are far too common in this country. I see it every day; far more than I wish.

Being caucasian myself, I still can't see why "white supremacy groups" even exist. They have no grounds for what they believe. But this is America, they can believe and think what they wish. Just don't plot to assassinate a candidate, or anyone else, for that matter.

And definitely don't try to justify it either.

Pigs.

Jeez why do people keep saying that I said white people can't relate to blacks, they can, for god sakes my neighbors are white, I don't have a problem with them at all. I don't have a problem with white people and I don't have a problem with black people. But like MDK said, we live in the real world, and certain things have happen in the past that make the things in the present what they are today.

No, but you also stated his race playes a factor in your support.

but the fact of the matter is, if you haven't walked a mile in a black persons shoes you can't tell them how to fell.

Race clearly plays a role here, per your comments. So once again:

What different circumstance set you so apart that a white man is utterly unable to relate to you? Please do tell.

Your quotes tell differently Outlaw. Emphasis mine.

Once again, you evade giving me any real answers.

No they don't, in none of those quotes did I state that I would vote for Obama solely because he is black. Like I said in a post above I wouldn't vote for Alan Keys, I wouldn't vote for Al Sharpten, I wouldn't vote for jeese Jackson, I wouldn't vote for Louis Farrakhan. They all got one thing in common they're all black leaders, but I wouldn't vote for them for president. Like I said race plays a small factor.

Ashrak its the way things are. In the course of all the great things like intergration and civil rights we lost our community. Plus since were a majority we don't get the same privledges as minorities. Feel lucky you have friends and camardrie. Look at me, i'm a rich white boy. But I HATE rich white people (so arrogant). I can't converse with middle class or lower class becuase I always feel guilty when they start talking about their jobs and hardships. I can't hang with any of the other races because I know they would probably never accept me. And then every day I hear about the top 5% and how were ruining the country and getting richer while others are suffering and we don't give a damn. Well I say I do give a damn. HA as if people care, no one belives me, hell I drive a BMW! Why should I care, i'm just like all the other rich brats. I find it odd, how the ones who hate being sterotyped are the fastet ones to do it to me. Because I Do Give A Damn.

My previous comment was addressed to this post Outlaw (again, empahsis mine). As we can clearly see from these quotes:

Quote

Unless you are black you don't no what it does. Get over it, your not black, but maybe if you opened your mind you would understand.

but the fact of the matter is, if you haven't walked a mile in a black persons shoes you can't tell them how to fell.

You have essentially said "Whites can't relate to black people." And I continue to ask "why" and you continue to not answer that question.

@ Shepherd

Yeah, that situation pretty much reeks. Hence my protests here. People talk about reconciliation between the races, but how can that occur if one side gets special perks in the debate?

Have you actually tried to be friends with these minoritie kid that you speak of, if you haven't give it a try. And i really don't see why you feel guilty, unless you've done something wrong you should never feel guilty. Being who you are should never make you feel bad, screw people who hate you just for being you, I'm sure you'll find friends with sense.

Hmmm. Didn't know Jesse Jackson was a paintballer...

Anyways...

This is the second plot that I've heard of. The first was several months ago, by a middle aged man somewhere in the mid west. For some reason, it didnt get all blown out by the media, I was kinda surprised. In fact, I heard more about the guy in Ohio that "hung" a ghost decoration from a tree in his yeard and labled it "Obama Hussain" or something like that.

What you guys have to realize is that the ones that get caught are the bumb ones. I'm willing to lay a years pay that the other, larger, better equipped, better orginised are laying plans of their own. I have to say, I dont expect him to make it out of his first term alive, if he's elected.
Only the strongest will survive... Lead me to heaven when we die... I have a shadow on the wall... I’ll be the one to save us all

Ash hears the full paragraph, read it over and over you'll never find where I say black people can't relate to whites.

''Chill out guys, when I say we yeah I do mean black people. It's easy for a white person to think that's strange, for me it's not. How many black presidents have we had, oh yeah that's right 0!!! I don't have a problem with white people at all, but the fact of the matter is, if you haven't walked a mile in a black persons shoes you can't tell them how to fell. I don't have to defend myself for wanting a black man to be president. Although that's not the only reason I support him. And if you were to ask me if I was going to vote him only because he is black I would tell you no. But him being black is a big plus for me. ''

I am chill. I am the epitome of chillness. But how is that statement not telling me that I can't relate to you because I am white?
