Personally, I'm probably going to use schedule 40 ABS, because it's really easy to find for me. That, and it's infinately stronger than PVC in this application.

EDIT: oh now i got it. Wow, im dumb. Wouldn't the pressure from the vacuum create a force upon the end cap though, a substantial amount at that? And for a good amount of force behind said projectile, wouldnt you need the barrel and projectile bores matched accurately?

Anyway, don't go preaching that "this won't work" or "needs pressure" because it DOES work. The physics behind it are pretty simple, and it most definately IS an efficiant means of propulsion. Look it up, there are plenty of videos of people shooting ping pong balls through cans and stuff with one of these out there, and that isn't an easy feat.
