Condoms are better, you can shoot into it all day and not have anything happen. where as a plug is good for only the first shot.

BTW that kid should have gotten kicked off for not using his safety and being unaware of his muzzle. If you point your gun down always and have it on safe it should never come to you being thankful that you had your plug/bag on.

This is not his first screw up with that kind of stuff. Also he did a few other insanely stupid things. I have a feeling we won't be seeing him around for a long time if ever again.

Anther thing to add, If you do not going to shoot your marker, keep you finger off the trigger. I've seen rental guns where the safety doesn't work.

I've used a plug on my pump marker figuring it is safe that the marker wont somehow re-cock itself and fire a second shot, but you really have to be careful. According to Durty Dan its not tight enough if you don't grunt every time you pull out the plug.

If you do plan on using one it should be a good one with a pointed tip, o-rings and an air duct.

I'll admit, I did shoot a wookie-dong squeegee out of my barrel once. But that was when my friend were working on our markers in the garage, and that was to launch it over to him, which it did in a nice, slow and entertaining parabolic arc. And it didn't even reach him...

But the fact that a marker CAN easily shoot a squeegee is plenty of reason not to use one as a BBD in a safe area.

Modern barrel plugs are built cheaply. Unlike the old-fashioned ones that actually did work, the modern ones don't fit tightly enough and are really just for looks. I wouldn't trust one even in a pump. They would make nasty projectiles coming out of an unported barel.

Now that I have seen the response from the forum I have a question. Is there anyway we can petition the industry leaders to make socks/condomns/covers mandatory and make plugs obsolete?

I hadnt thought of that...so much for quality, right?
The one plug I do still use occasionally (mentioned in previous post) has got to be at least 10 years old. And I suspect it might last another 10 if I dont lose it...

Good point. The plug I use in my pump is pretty old (old PMI one) and it fits snuggly. But some of the newer Tippmann ones slip in and out with hardly any effort.

And thanks to this thread, I made a purchase from Palmers yesterday and threw in a Palmers BBD just to have another.

Ha, I've collected about 5 by now. Kinda sad that I actually use all of them, though. I have too many guns...

Not much chance of making plugs illegal, because the poor gits with pistols will be up pooper creek without a paddle that way...

But I've got 5 barrel socks, 3 Tippmann ones (M98, X7, FlatLine, DW and SO), two of which are the oversized type. :o

Yeah, a lot of people don't need to be in possession of a paintball marker. A lot of people just do stupid things when they are. I especially hate it when someone takes their mask off on the field. :o
