I have owned a couple. Teammates have owned several. Members of other Colorado teams have owned them. A mod on this very forum owns one.
ALL have said they'd never purchase one again. They can put the transponder against their voice box, but it would move within minutes, cutting off valid transmissions very quickly.

I am one of the guys JR is talkin about here, I'll never waste the money on one of these again. a cheap boom mike with a push to talk from wal-mart works better than these. However, I found a throat mic that is more more reliable, much more sturdy, much more clear. Go here Clearer Communication for info. I have one of the Stryker setups

Maybe its the air in Colorado, I don't know but I have the same problems a JackRock had mentioned. It moves on me when I run or crawl. Personally I have some store of patience but its begining to try mine! The communication isn't clear and I have no idea of what to do about it? Can you guys help? Or am I just hoping in vain that I might be able to make it work?
Help Me!!!

Lead, and if necessary, use words.

That Stryker is the exact same model as available on ixradio.com or on ebay from gadgetinfinity, but at TWICE the price!! gadgetinfinity or ixradio even includes a remote ptt and other wizbang and is still less than the clearercom price!

I have 6 sets that work just fine. You have to secure the wires, we run them inside our shirts/sleeves so they don't catch on anything. You may want to tape the mike in place on your throat when you find a good spot.

Was out with LtCdr S this past weekend with an 8 man team, all with Firefox throat mikes. Took us about 4-5 minutes to get all the mikes positioned correctly and set up on some new guys, then played an hour long scenario with pretty good communication the whole time. Then we degraded to speedball type games, so they weren't as useful.

Junk is right. Mine worked for 5 minutes of one game and then died. These are the biggest hunks of junk possible. For those thinking of buying one...THINK AGAIN!

I had problems with mine as well. I may try to canabilze it just for the PTT button. huge waste of money. It wouldn't stay where I set it. It would transmit poor sound. I may look at other options in the future.

The PTT works great with my boom mic. I tried it out and had no problems. Too bad it was so expensive to get a nice PTT....

I have used and destroyed every throat mic I tried.

I started with FireFox. Moved on to ClearerComs. Did not matter the model, did not matter the cost....I killed them all.

For radio coms I have moved to high end earbone mics. Less things to break. Less problems in general. I have had my last earbone mic for tree times as long as my Styker lasted so i am seriously happy with it longevity at this point and will not return to the throat mic for any reason.
