Since joining SOP in late 04, and the forums in 05, people have been talking about paintball mini guns...

Well...

Holy crap.

BTW...it costs about 50 bucks to fire that thing for 30 seconds (52bps)

man, I saw that forever ago. :D It's impressive, but just plain silly. Even with a Pinokio, he's got what, 8 seconds of firing time? Albeit a very full 8 seconds.

I'm pretty sure he would not be feeding that beast with a standard hopper. Im guessing something custom made with a very large capacity would be required.

If you play your own game of paintball using Spec ops as guidelines and not as "law of position", put this in your sig.

Could someone explain how a PB minigun can fire faster than a regular marker? I just don't get it. Most HE markers should (conceivably) be able to keep up with anything. I mean, the whole reason a real mini-gun is multi-barreled in the first place is because of the heat factor. That simply is a nonfactor in paintball, so how does having multiple barrels help speed up the process of firing paint? I'm not saying it can't happen, I just wanna know how.

IKE brings up a good point. Maybe since hoppers don't feed 56 BPS, he has mulitple hoppers that feeds each barrel? That's the only way that it could shoot faster I would assume. He never shows the marker in any of his videos so we can only guess. I sent him a message of youtube though, we may know soon

I can't watch the vid right now as it is blocked....But my best guess is that he would need multiple hammers and such...ie; multiple firing mechanisms, to actually fire at a higher rate. Honestly, how fast can one firing mechanism operate? I dunno....I'll have to check the video later.

I have a custom gun builder I talk to a bit. He told me he'd build me one for cost. Just because its a dream project. Only problem, I'd hate to see the cost on it!!!!

Maybe in a couple of years.

Saw a tank over on MilSimEmpire that had a working minigun for thier main gun on the turret. As a tanker i have to say, that would be sweet!

Thats not the only reason for a minigun IRL. Multiple barrels help it shoot faster because it is loading another barrel when it is shooting, there is no wait for the weapon to chamber another round.
