Well, I've been reading on here alot abut paint your marker and it really struck my interest. I'm not really sure why(besides the obvious reasons) I wanted to paint it, just in the fact I've never painted anything besides the back of a fish tank. After reading article after article I decided to do it myself( w lots of advise from DESERT WOOKIE)! I'm finally done, and wanted to see what y'all thought, so go ahead..............shoot me strait!

p.s. So you know I used Krylon spray paint. Started with a coat of olive, then brown(which I forgot to get pics of), then khaki.YES, I did put clearcoat on(2 coats actually) Then I ordered some stencils from Desert Wookie's site tacticalcamo.com, which is very helpful and an all around great site!

that looks pretty sweet. Great paint choices also. I wish I could do that to my markers, but I dont have the patience or courage to go through with it.

looks good, would look a bit better if you had better prepped the surface and gone a bit lighter on the coats.....but over all it looks pretty good.

quality job

has that European desert camo look (forget which country)
swiss, dutch, german???

*FYI: in the future...get a dowel rod. Wrap a sheet or two of paper towels around the dowel. Tape up the end of the paper towels...
then push dowel into the barrel until the paper towel is covering the complete length of the barrel internally.
This will keep over spray from finding it's way into the barrel through the vents.

Real nice job, looks great, and it'll work great in the Southwestern environments. They can be rough to match, as you can go from rocky desert to scrub brush, sometimes on the same field.

Yep- reminds me a bit of three patterns- and old german one from the 50's (Steppentarn), and the 2 from Denmark (T/99 Orken and Kampuniform)

Jordan also uses a pattern that is darker, but similar, from HyperStealth.

Have fun not beeing seen on your local field

Yeah- the Germans have a few patterns that are seeing limited use in Afghanistan and in tests. The deployed one is called Tropentarn or Wusentarn (sp?), and the other test one I can't remember, but both are pretty effective. Here's some photos:

You did a nice job of emulating that look, and while it will work great in an arid environment, don't you play in FL??

Just curious...
