ok, aside from the 6mm airsoft type that im pretty sure has a seam but thats not the point.

pretty sure im correct in thinking that one hasnt existed in the mass market of paintballers.
now if im wrong then some guy who thinks i dont know paintball will have a notch in his belt for this but i dont think i am

The seam helps it break. Also there isn't really a way to fill it without a seam. Paintballs are made in 2 halves.

the tournament grade paint might come close, but their will always be a seam because they are made in two halves.

Although if they are "melted" or "melded" or "heated" or "whatever you wish to call it" together then their wouldn't be a seam, and you could round that out fairly easily.

and thus a seamless paintball.

Edit: and that's not cap'n obvious that's Anti Hero, two different forum members.

There are ones with very minute seams. DXS makes them very small, same with most/all high end paints.
Only thing I could thing of is if a company were to make the shell almost complete, leaving only a small hole. Paint is then injected into that hole and sealed.
This would also make the ball a little more solid and work better with rifling (so Hammerhead barrels might actually work :P)

think of it this way, if anyone can point to a pharmaceutical pill being made of gelatin having a perfect seamless casing, then yes the technology is possible for a seamless paintball.....I do recall one multivitamin or some such having such a seamless casing, BUT it was filled with the vitamins and such, probably made by being heated or something...

This would prolly work with a polystyrene shell. That'd be cool, virtually seamless paintballs.
People couldent blame their inaccuracy on their paint!

I believe Airgun Designs at one point in time made a plastic shelled paintball with no seam for testing purposes. I don't believe it worked significantly better.

It would be possible to take a normal paintball with a seam and dunk it into a a liquid which dried to give it a smooth finish.

you know........ maybe the seam actually gives the ball better airflow? think of it like golf balls.....too smooth and it doesnt really fly much better than a seamed ball.......unfortunately a gelatin shell would be too soft for golf dimpling...........although that might be weird to see lol.

Actually, it may be possible to make a golf ball styled paintball.
You would have to change the construction of the shell, making it more solid. Doing so would probably mean more bounces and more hurt when it hit.
Since I'm not a Chemist and don't entirely know the process of making a paintball, I can't say for sure it would work. And if it did, the process would be much more complicated (a.k.a. expensive) than a normal ball.
