How do you guys treat reffing? Do you go by the books and dish out penalties left and right or do you try and 'teach' players? There really isnt a wrong answer so be honest.

Personally, I'm very situational and almost have a mood swing. If somone has their mask off, and is a n00b, then i passive aggressivly tell them to put it on. "Unless you wanna lose an eye I'd advise you keep your mask on," but if they've been ballin or I've told them before i shout out phrases that would be changed into other phrases in all caps on the forums. Most other situations are very similar.

It depends. I'm usually harder on the newbs because they will walk straight througha lane with their mask off. I already had to tackle one kid. I probably saved his eye...

Yeah, although I shouldn't be, I'm much nicer to the regulars, and I talk to them much more calmly. I don't give them special treatment in the way of calls, but its hard not to do the paintchecks they ask for first.

In terms of noobs, I'll be more leinient if theyre a private group, and much stricter if they are with the walkons. With the walkons, they might get hurt by bonus balling and things like that. Taking masks off I treat the same no matter what.

I see a lot of noobie players. I have to be pretty strict with them or one will end up loosing an eye. It some kind of instinct to rip off your mask after taking the first shot even though there are 4 more coming at you.

As far at the experienced players go, I talk to them about everything (Spec Ops too =) ) Just like the guy above me, I give the same calls. Im just more relaxed. I think they are more fun to ref. They know what they are doing and acually play good games, unlike the little kids.

Well i actually try to be nicer to the n00bs, because I want them to come back so i can shoot them somtime :). However, i dont have patience for people that need somthing repeated 12 times(unless they're hard of hearing).

I go all ruley(yes, thats a new word) on the tournament playera, but on rec players i teach them.
You gas up the marker, put on the gloves, strap on the mask, and walk onto the field.. it doesn't matter that you failed a test, that your girlfriend broke up with you last nite, or that you got a ticket on the way there.. your world is right for the next couple hours, this is your heaven on earth.. live it.. love it.. Paintball 4 life..
