I have to do a big huge report on something even vaguely related to anything to do with medicine for a class. My huge question, and I'll be quick and easy about this, is: what do?

Now, before you read any further OR POST, check out this nice little disclaimer! If you rare one of those people who get all pissy about disorders/diseases/syndromes, or otherwise have an opinion even minutely close to "blah blah blah that's not interesting it's srs blah blah blah" - Don't post. Leave this thread. Don't jack my thread and start some huge idiotic arguement about it just to have it closed in two days.

Now that they are out of here, I'm holding contest. What do get if you win? A paper/presentation written about your topic! So cool!

Instructions:

What do you do?
You give me a name of a disorder, a little about it, and why it's interesting. I don't care how lengthy your submission is, as long as it covers the big two (Name/Why it's interesting), you're good.

You can give me as many entries as you want, I welcome large amounts. I'll share the paper with you if you want.

Without further a due.. Begin!
How'd you do that, sexy? - Becc asking me a question.

A basic one, OCD. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

I have OCD, but I'm not a neat freak, or one that worries over stuff, my form of OCD is I count everything I do. From the words that I read, to the steps I take, to the things I do. I know how many steps are in my house, how many tiles are on the floor and ceiling, and how many keys are on each keyboard that I use. But here is what makes it more interesting, everything that I have to count has to be divisible by 3, or I get really irritated until it's made right.

Another thing I do is I have facial ticks. I move my mouth in weird ways, my eye brows, lips, nose, neck, and forehead. I do not know I am doing it, but I have been told that I do it all the time.
Hey baby, wanna come over to myspace so i can twitter your yahoo till I google all over your facebook?

Facial ticks? Like muscle spasms? OCD was already taken, frankly the rarer the better. But I am interested in your ticks. Do you know what condition it is?

And the divisible by 3 is pretty cool. Must suck for you, but as a third party I think it's pretty cool.

Basically, my face spasms without me knowing it, or even feeling it. I'll see if I can find an example of it in one of my videos.

Well, I have Asperger's Syndrome, although I covered that pretty well earlier this month in THIS thread.

Can it be about specific parasites? Like Toxoplasma? They infect up to half of the human population and cause altered behavior and mental processes. Mind control bugs.

Here's an article.

Tourette's is cool. But little is known about it so it'd be hard to write a report on...trust me, I'd know.

EDIT: Maybe us paintballers are all infected with toxoplasma because it seems like it eliminates the fear response in the cats...aka creating adrenaline junkies?

It also induces aggression in male humans, and flirtatiousness in females.

Oh, here's a really funny facet to that.

It is most often transferred through undercooked red meat.

American through and through.

i suffer/enjoy psychotic depression...it is depression mixed with psychosis...yes i am clinically diagnosed as psychotic...no it doesn't mean i kill peopel and bury them in the basement...just means that i "escape from reality" at times. It is kinda combined with schizophrenia and things like that...all the meds i take are mainly used to treat schizophrenia

Used to hear things all the time as a kid (age 5 and on), voices and such. Things that weren't there or didn't exist except in my head. Took me years to understand a lot of what i heard wasn't able to be heard by other people. I'd constantly be asking "what did you say?" to people that weren't there. People in the room with me would be all, "What the boink is wrong with you, we said nothing." My parents just thought i was wierd...never dawned on them anything was wrong for years. Finally got help for it by 16. Took me almost 4 years and over 20 different meds to find something that worked. Been happily voice free for damn near 10 years now. XD Ah how wierd life is when you don't hear things anymore. I still swear from time to time i hear people speaking and will be all "What did you say?" and PKJ will look at me and just be all, "You are boinking crazy, i didn't say anything" Sucks that i can never bring up anything she said in a past argument. Cause she will immediately pull out the, "Oh you are just making that up, we both know you hear things, i didn't say that". ;) Not fair

Attention Deficit Disorder, there should be a lot of information on it as its a fairly controversial diagnosis (being doctors are quick to diagnose children with ADD and medicate when they are just hyper and need exercise). You could also make the connection of the lack of exercise and activity in modern children with the not so long ago boom of ADD diagnosis-es.
