If you already have and like your Ion I would recommend going with the Longbow kit for these reasons:
1. The T9 is expensive. In order to use it well you will have to invest in spare mags. The spare mags for a T9 cost around $35-40 while those for the longbow are also $35. The difference is that the Longbow mags hold over twice as much paint, and you will therefore have to carry fewer of them to be effective.
2. As the Ion is a electronic gun it will be quieter that the T9.
3. As I have not held a longbow ion in my hands I cannot be completely sure of this but my guess is that it is shorter than my T9. If the collapsible stock is fully extended it is 35" long. With the stock at its shortest I would estimate that it is about 29" or 30".

Other things to consider:
Again since I have not used a longbow Ion I cannot be sure but It looks like the longbow kit takes a lot of time to put on and take off compared to how quickly I can change the configuration of my T9. I can take my rifle and turn it into a pistol in under a minutes, or switch from mag fed to a hopper and remote line in under 4 minutes. I don't think you could change gun configurations as quickly with the Ion. however since it appears that you own several different guns that would not be a problem.
The Longbow kit almost requires that you run remote air while a T9 setup that is mag fed requires that you use 12 grams.
Looked at your brigade page and could not tell if you have upgraded the regulator on your Ion. If you have not then the T9 probably has better consistency, however if you have a better reg on you Ion I am not sure which would be better.
As far as options and upgrades for internals or barrels the Ion is by far more common that the T9, but with all the rails on the T9 you can attach any weaver style accessory.
If you get the T9 make sure you get a sight riser for it. On the longbow kit this is already built in on top of the feed neck housing.
I have never dealt with smart parts customer service but I have with Tiberius arms. Tiberius arms support is wonderfully helpful and friendly.
As far as weight goes I do not know what the comparison is but my T9 setup weighs about 5 pounds.

I have both a T8 and a T9 so if you have any questions about them feel free to ask me. I like both of them a lot, but I think for you probably the more cost effective solution for you would be the Longbow kit.

I'd just stick with the Ion. I hate SP just as much as the next guy, but the Ion will perform better than the T-9.

I'm not very fond of the T-9.
My teammate has had his for quite a while now, and I'm surprised he still uses it.
He purchased the elite edition, and I personally do not believe he has gotten his money's worth out of it.

-It gets leaking problems about every other game.
-The field paint he uses is way too small for the stock barrel, and there is nothing he can do about it.
-I found it somewhat heavy

Don't even spend your money on the longbow kit either.
All you need to do is buy a nice barrel for the ion and you're set.

Has he taken it apart and cleaned everything, and lubed in IAW the tech. manual?

I think the T9 is better. Though the Ion can be made to be quieter through barrels, the T9 doesn't have that aftermarket option yet. It is heavier, but it is held like a rifle (the way I use it) which I find easier than a smaller "gun." Now for consistency, it is on point. Its regulator is top notch. I've heard not so great things about the SP regs.

I know this post is a little bit old, but you could order a t-9 and the new longbow feed for the t-9 that they just put out. LINK

I would go with the ion longbow simply because you already have the ion and ions are known for their accuracy and consistency (very sniper like qualities) havent heard much on the t9 either
Do you guys think I could put a Ion longbow kit on an SP-1?

I think it's safe to say the OP has all the info he needs since Jan 6 2008.

Cobrakai feel free to start a new thread if you have a question.
