Hey, I'm playing an outlaw game tommorow game with some of my friends and one other person who I don't know (Friend of a friend) and I've come across a major problem. My gun is set down to 230 fps!!!!! Also, everyone else is likely shooting over 280 or even shooting hot as they haven't chronoed recently.
By the way, I am going to get a chrono soon but I don't have the money at this time.

Is it even safe to try to tweak my velocity so that I stand half a chance? I'm playing with some pretty good players tommorow and I don't know...what if we took someone's gun who had been recently chronoed if anyone even has been recently and try to match the speed? Yeah, it sounds pretty dumb but I'll have no chance if I don't do something I'm thinking.

Does anyone know if this is reasonable? To turn my velocity screw so that it is closer to 280 but not quite (just a few turns) or is it just plain dumb? If not, how many turns approximately would it take to adjust the velocity from 230 to 260 or 270? Or are there just too many variables involved and I should just forget about it???

All replies are GREATLY appreciated,

Lol I was actually thinking about it and you're right. I've heard about the problems with shooting hot guns so I won't risk overtuning my gun. Thanks.

I'm just hoping that the new guy won't tune his gun to shoot hot...don't know him. I'll get a chrono with the money I get for my birthday. Once again, thanks.

We have a buncha guys for outlaw. So we all pitched in and bought a chrono. Those little hand ones are pretty darn cheep when you get everyone to pitch in.

Even the markers that have been checked with a chrono recently are unsafe. Alot of things affect a markers velocity like, temperature, humidity, how full the tank is, paint to barrel match, etc. So just because a marker's velocity was set yesterday doesn't mean that it's safe to use today. Also, you can't set the velocity buy the number of times you turn the velocity screw. The only safe accurate way to set the velocity is with a chrono. The small hand held yellow ones work great.
