Since I'm hosting our field and we have been getting a pretty good turnout lately, I've been staying out of the games to ref the whole day. It's a noble cause but I still feel like I wish I could get out there and play. My team suffers as well but that's ok, they get over it. Do you guys have to deal with this? Reffing is fun and all but just watching the action makes me want to get in it even more.

When me and a group of my friends go to play in the mountains, I can't stand just reffing. That's why we always make a point of inviting ONLY people that we trust to play by the honor system. It works fine so far...

Granted, the Irregulators are now more than 30 players strong but, being the field team/staff at Nitehawk Paintball, we generally take turns on the air station, chrono and keep a couple refs on the field. Nitehawk has also allowed us to carry Player Ref cards so that we can play but, when we see a situation, we can whip out the card, handle the situation and then go respawn somewhere.

Thats a good idea for all-round woods/scenario play.

Right now, for big game/scenarios, the field has a sponsored team come out and ref, and when they're done, they can play. Employees get 1/2 the day to play, seeing as were usually there from 8 AM to about 10 or so for scenarios...

I ref when the numbers are uneven at our field in Wicomaco Shores,MD but when i do im still geared up just don't have my marker on me. My sis also refs/photograghs (mostly rake action shots) as we all do we try to teach new ref's fairness but sometimes it dosent always work. :ghillie:

I feel your pian. I've been reffing for well over a year. I was doing it at first to help out. Then I got on the field sponosred team and reffed more. I liked reffing but I have grown tired of it. If all you do is ref, its gonna get old after awhile. I decided to give it up. I am no longer on a team. I no longer ref. I decided I did my part to help the field and to help the team. Now I am going to get back into playing. I got into the game to have fun and it wasnt any more. SO no reffing, no team, just going out there and having a good time.

I am still prone to hollar at someone being an idiot and trying to get hurt, and with my size I normally dont get much lip.
