hey all,

Put this on the old A5 and thought, "hmm..sure does look pretty nice ." Sighting through the front sight you can tell it was well thought out as the shape conforms to the sight ring. hard to explain. It holds a few more rounds than the standard hopper , exactly how many I don't know. Profile is a little lower as well .

One thing I did notice is it makes a bit more noise than the standard hopper and the lid is clear . Yup you can hear those balls rattling . However, there is a lining or a "stealth" / "sniper" version of this hopper (lining installed) .Forgot what they call it.

anyway..

Game day ,,, let's see if the "deflection technology" works . Well it does . I peeled around a corner trying to pull a flanking run when I ran up against a player behind a bunker. I took some cover and peeked out . His first shot hit the hopper and deflected up and away from my head . I put a few rounds on his position while my teammate charged him. He fired again ,same thing. Deflected up and away . Neither broke . He then was eliminated. The player commented on the deflections,he seemed a little puzzled and we had a good laugh .

for 12-15 bucks this is a nice hopper for an A5 or cyclone equipped 98.

good : looks , deflection works, few extra rounds, price
bad : little noisy without steath liner . clear lid may give you away in the bush...nothing a shot of spray paint can't fix though.

take care.

For me, the hopper was total garbage and I prefer to go back to my stock hopper, works much better, will end up selling it eventually

I agree with the performance and the noise factor. Good post.

I have one, I have yet to play with it. But I like the way it looks, anyway I have a car stock on my gun, it seems that with the stock out the balls wont deflect into my mask, it looks like they will go by my head. I guess I will have to find out the hard way.

I also enjoy the R-5 and have had no problems with it, as for the noise thing it shouldn't be a problem cause once in the thick of battle no one's going to be able to hear alittle rattle over the noise of a fire fight. But if your "sniping" in a ghillie I suggest using a tac cap cause it won't get in the way of your sighting so you won't need an off sight rail, but that's just my opinion.

I have noticed it amplifys the sound of the bolt being cocked and the cyclone spinning. I didnt have any paint in the hopper, maybe it will the paint will muffle the bolt and the cyclone, but I was dry firing and it seemed that the cyclone spinning echoed off the walls of the hopper. Thump the R5 and thump the stock, the R5 resonates where as the stock is just a dull thud.

it does make more noise but i like it. i really have had a bounce but dont know anything about the ball that hit it . it may not have broke if it hit anything. but it dosen't bounce everything that hits it. i have had several breaks on it.
