My local library recently built a computer room. The windows have wires in the glass that complete a circuit. If the glass breaks, the circuit is broken and a n alarm is set off. Why not apply the same concept to goggles. If the goggles break, the ref is alerted and the game is stopped. The ref would only be alerted if the lens BROKE, and the player needed help. The mask could either send a signal to the refs, or make loud noise. The wire would not obstruct vision, as it can be made as thin as a hair.
This is a signiture. There is nothing special about this signature. Why are you reading it? Its not funny. Just a signature.

Masks rarely break just like that, it's a long time in the making with very obvious signs (cracking, bubbling, frosting ect.) before a failure. Incorporating a "alarm into it would just add more places to fail along with increased manufacturing and implementation costs.

Proper tutorials on lens care/inspection and regular replacement would reduce chances of failure greater than an alarm system.

Some things just don't need to be "Tech'd out".

iron man masks!
with a robotic voice...
that would be bad buttocks...
but that idea wouldnt be bad except maybe if they added a heat sensor to the mask where the foam touched the forhead, and an alarm would go off if the mask comes off your head. that would be smart

Time would be better spent on making cheaper stronger lenses.
