Not to mention that it really doens't help accuracy or anything.

:I POST A LOT: My show talking about paintball maintenence (8.8 meg med. res) or (2.2 meg Low resolution version) I froze paintballs to see if there was ANY advantage, and there was none. It's a mystery to me why anyone would do that to a perfectly good paintball too.

yeah, but why?

Frozen balls dimple up, and they become LESS accurate. Not to mention they shrink, and roll out your barrel. And if you break one... Well assuming you can break a HARD object, it's not fun. Oh, and hte shells become more brittle too. So if the fill doens't freeze, the shell becomes like an egg.

Trust me, it's a LOT easier to just shoot normal paintballs. If you're looking to re-use the paint, can I recomend a product like Rufus Dawg T-Balls or V Balls? Both work in standard paintguns, and both are reusable.

Should I tell 'em you can't freeze paintballs in a 'normal' freezer?

Naaaahhhhh....

I did it for the show to prove there's no advantages, and I had to go to some rather "extreme" measures to freeze them, then keep them cool.

Do you realize that most "paint" inside paint balls are not paint at all. Its either a mix of vegitable oils and color paste, or light duty soaps and color paste. Both do not freeze or it takes extreme measures to freeze them as Tyger stated. So most of the stories you hear about people freezing their paint balls and terroizing the neighborhood is no more than a myth.

More than likely they did chill them in their freezer and then went out and shoot something, but the probably were to wasted to notice that they were not hard, just cold and close range shots from paint balls do a lot of damage to objects that are not designed to be hit by them.

ie: cats(bbq'ed in sause or just plain), windows, cars, street bums, and old people in there cars. These are not confessions or ideas to be tried, just my 2 cents and a nickle.

I tried it once years ago just to see what it did. (not to shoot at people, but just trees in the yard) I learned that as someone else stated unless you have a deep freeze, good luck getting it to work, and well that's about all I learned. It was a waste of time. At least I learned it is really hard to do though.

You know unfrozen balls are pretty nasty by themselves too. They'll break glass without the help of being "Frozen".

Now I will say this. When I froze the balls they became inconsistent down range too, becasue the fill in the ball settled to the bottom, and basically made a lopsided ball. At short range, you didn't notice. It wasn't 'till long range that you could really see the dip & dive effect.

lessons : Don't shoot at things that aren't protected or rated to be hit with paintballs. I mean, don't shoot at cats. Unless, naturally, they're wearing goggles and they're armed with their own paintgun. In that case, they're PROBABLY playing.
