Well, I hope this was a good spot to put this.

Anyway, I have a Tube-Frame Dune Buggy w/1600cc VW motor that I am transforming into a paintball tank. I'm not going to have it be street legal or anything like that, but I need some liability insurance for it.

I was wondering what were some of the options I have and what other tankers have done for their insurance. I'm 17 and while I have a job to pay for stuff like this, I also have my truck that I have to fix the fuel pump and pay insurance on that as well, so I need the cheapest plan available.

Ideas?

Thanks a bunch.

I dont own a tank, but I do know that Geicko will insure golf carts, ATVs & motorized go-carts...try them.

Did you try asking the insurance company you have your car policy with? Alot of the time if you have a policy with the company they will give you discounts on other Vehicles.

Like a phone conversation with the insurance agent.
I guess you haven't built too many weird projects and gone to Home Depot asking for random things to make random stuff with.

Side note, what exactly are you trying to get insured for? Liability, running somebody over, damage, theft? Because I doubt many people have insurance policy's on their tanks. That being said, it's probably a very good idea, should something bad happen.
I know geico, well at least they advertise it, will insure all kinds of vehicles. That being said, I didn't get a very good quote on my auto insurance from them.

Liability... My field requires it, as do many others. And that is going to be a very "Different" conversation for sure.

Around here they aren't allowed to (officially) help you if you tell them you're building an air cannon at Home Depot.

Just talk to some companies about liability insurance.

I'm pretty sure it falls under "ATV" or "Off-road vehicle". Just describe to your company the basic situation that you will be in as "off-roading with pedestrians around, and since the land owner requires insurance, can you help me?" Considering that it is just basic insurance, it shouldn't be much. Good luck, and don't despair.

General, I'll send you a PM with some info. As I dont want to post a link to another forum.

What I did, and your field may accept is I have an umbrella liability policy on myself with my ATV listed on the policy. It covers any kind of liability issues for me that may arrise any where. If I knock an old lady down a flight of stairs at the mall, I'm good. Unless she sue's me more for then my policy that is... :P
