This is a very easy topic to turn from a respectful, debatable topic into a flamefest between Johnny Tippmann and Mr. Speedball. We've all heard both stereotypical arguments about this, keep the flaming out of these forums.

Teamwork trumps everything. Period. Now, I've only been to D-day once, and played on a commercial field once. But I play with the same group of guys I've played with for 7 years. We all know each other well, and we constantly trade up teams. The thing I see most often that wins games is teamwork. Its funny, because we all have M98s. But a couple of us have Spyders, and one guy has a bruiser. A couple of our Tippy guys have flatlines. It never matters. Whichever team works together the best wins.

when i JUST started paintball, i had a serious problem wil people moving up. ane 1 sucked. Back then i was all military tactics before i ever touched a gun. However, there is an easy two part solution to all of this:

Take charge of the whole team
Expect the whole team to fail, hand select at least 3 people, and assign them on my tail.

The former is just to get them to respect you. The latter got me alteast some cover. It just worked. When you are confused in the thick of things, a strict firm order from someone you respect is what it takes to get them focused and they just follow whatever you say to their best. Our squad faced up to 10 people at a time, owning at times, pushed up the furthest, had the most kills, with me with the most single kills , ran out of rounds, and even got wiped out once. By game 4, the other team had wisened up just sent a bunch of people our way when we were "obviously there". But in the end, we had the most fun.

christ, i need to form a working team....

I think another reason is because speedballers can communicate more. Even in the woods, you'd hear them say for example something like, "one about 10 metres, 1 o'clock". Whereas walkons will typically say "over there behind that tree."

Speedfeeds dude.
I can go an entire game without ever laying off the trigger.
Just tuck the tank in tight, hold with the bottom fingers, and walk the trigger with the top two.
My job is to be an asshole. I excel at the position.

That's not that hard.
Well, if you're wearing a vest it might be.
I know I can put my pods back in my NXe harness and not have to close it up, as they'll stay in there snug without the strap.

Besides, who here plays in the woods :P

I dont understand people who dont rush the line personally.. its no fun in the back... I also have no problem filling my hopper while shooting, or putting my pods back in my vest.. Idk, i guess ive just played enough its all second nature.

I remember this one game I played in Mo... there were about 5 people from the other team down the trail and I had about 10 younger kids 7-12 following me up to this objective that we were supposed to hold, when i said i saw some people down the trail they like all scattered and dispersed.. it got worse when the other guys actually saw us, and started to shoot... lol i had like 3 kids left with me. I tried telling one kid to run across the road, and hes like "NO, NO WAY MAN! ILL GET SHOT!!" i replied " you realize that you could walk across that path before the balls had enough time to get here." he replies " No way man!".. I walked across the path, and walked back.... kid looked at me funny... and ran across..

really all a vest is, is a glorified pod pack.

I dont know why but when playing woodsball at my field, i have only been playing for 3 years, and i got about 3-4 times a year cause i don't have a ton of money. But when i walk on with a tippmann with a long barrel and in camo the "newbies" always want to follow and stick with me. So dig out your camo and useless milsim and you could have the whole team sticking with you.
