First, snipers do exist in paintball, just not how many people think they do. No, you're not getting one-shot kills at insane ranges. Instead they're ambush specialists and area-denial players, and they only work in large games with a lot of team support. Too many people want to be the sniper in pick up games where few players run as a regular team and therefore don't know how to tee off each other and work together. A sniper in a rec-game is just someone going off on his own and hurting his team for the most part. It takes time and a bigger field size to deploy a sniper and have them actually work. If you don't have a regular team that knows how to work together and communicate, sniping and ambushing just won't work the way it's intended.

If you want the Tac One, nothing we say will deter you from it. For what I paid for my E-Mag I could've gotten plenty of guns that were lighter, shot faster, and were more gas efficient. But I liked the mystique of the E-Mag and I pounced on one. If you're the same way and want the Tac, you're probably going to get one anyway. It's a fine marker, arguably the best purely mechanical marker available, so don't worry you'll get screwed on it. But here's another option you may want to consider.

SpecOps made a Longbow kit for the DP G3 so you might be able to still get one from them. I've used G3s more than a few times and have little but good to say about them. The G3 and the kit will cost less than the Tac One itself. It will be lighter than the Tac, if that's important to you, more efficient, and if your get the G3 SE with the upgraded board, you'll have all the firing modes for any speedball you might play.
