I failed my PST. I can hardly believe it...I failed by 3 sit ups. It's unfathomable. I guess I just trained so much on my swim I ignored the other portions of the PST. I was very close and get to retake in 2 weeks. He was willing to fudge my results (happens alot) but I wanted to complete it on my own so when I meet the SEAL I can impress him. He said I did very good for a 17 year old with a year before I need to pass it. He didn't expect me to get close even. So I'm doing push ups and situps every night before I go to sleep. The good news is that I exceeded the standards in everyother aspect of the PST except the pull ups which I passed. Here are the minimums:

Swim (500 meters): 12:30 or less
10 min. break
Push Ups (In 2 min.): 42
2 min. break
Sit Ups ( In 2 min.): 50
2 min. break
Pull Ups (No time limit): 6
10 min. break
Run (1.5 miles): 11:30 or less

My scores:
Swim (500 meters):
11:51
10 min. break
Push Ups (In 2 min.): 44
2 min. break
Sit Ups ( In 2 min.): 47
2 min. break
Pull Ups (No time limit): 6
10 min. break
Run (1.5 miles): 10:40

Sounds good man. I'll make one!

I think I may just update this thread though...I don't really think anyone cares about my journey otherwise...

Damn bro, sorry to hear that. just don't get to horribly down on yourself, you got another chance to kick butt next time. So just focus on what you need to work on, and you'll be a Navy SEAL beast!
If you can't hack it, then I suggest you pack it!

Malu,

You ARE awesome! To accomplish what you did at 17 years of age!?! YOU are a beast! I have no doubt that with your discilpline and determination you will be the next Richard Marcinko. except you won't get in trouble! Don't get down on yourself, you are so close now, you will nail it in two weeks!
Blessed be the LORD my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle. My lovingkindness and my fortress, My high tower and my deliverer, my shield and the ONE in whom I take refuge!

Lol how did you fail the easiest part of the test? Do weighted sit ups until your abs physically can't lift you up anymore. Then lay there for 30 seconds and repeat until it feels like someone literally stabbed you in the stomach. I use my ankle weights because they're soft. You can always do inclined or inverted situps too. It will be a lot faster than doing regular ones.

I really don't know. I guess after 500 meters of the sidestroke I was pretty spent. But I just never worked on my abs because I assumed I had no troubles.

Eh... I missed my push ups on my last APFT... :(

PT isnt that hard a thing. Just keep working on it and youll get it. Nobody is really nails, its difficult ya just push through... I got told P90X is an awesome system to try out...

SITUPS: I do 70 in two minutes. FALL BACK. It doesnt take any effort to just relax your abs and fall back. Practice doing it and I promise youll jump at least 20 in your 2 minutes. You can fall back and practically bounce. Youll get it dude. But I know in the Army its 53 situps for us young pups...

Does it have to be sidestroke? Cuz if so, that's rather dumb, no wonder the rather long period limit for the swim team then.

Yes, fall back on situps. We get two minutes to do situps on our PFT, and I always get max (95). The trick is to get a rhythm going. Relax and falll back, then as you fall, tense up and start trying to move yourself up again. You may also want to work on pullups more. Six is actually a failing score here. Just set up a pullup bar in your doorway and do some every time you leave/enter your room. I guarantee you will see incredible results. To get better on pushups, elevate your feet and do set after set until failure. 10:40 isn't a bad run time, but you can dfinitely get it down lower. I'd recommend running four miles a day since that is what SEALs do. Just keep working hard and you'll get it!

That doesn't sound like many situps at all to do in two minutes. The rest of that sounds tougher but wow, that's not the part I'd expect someone to fail.

50 sit ups in 2 minutes?
ridiculously easy, its probably harder after doing all those other things, but usual sit up takes around a second or less. During the presidential fitness test most of the football team gets 60+ sit ups in a minute and thats only like a rating of 85%.
