I thought this was gonna be a Steve Jobs thread . . .

Exactly what I thought.

As to the OP: If the company becomes an exciting innovator in the paintball industry again, and this forum is important to the owners, then this forum will see new life.

But frankly, it is hard to get excited about all the new goodies I could get to play paintball with when I can hardly afford to pay my electric bill. No doubt many members feel the same. As far as new gear goes.....that ain't gonna happen. I'll be lucky to scrape together enough cash for paint and air to play for a day.

Sorry about the let down on the Steve Jobs thing. Who will invent my electropneumatic ipod with apps and wifi now?? It seems like paintball is going through a moment where all the guys that started in the late nineties early 2000s are getting to the age where they are starting families and getting jobs and really don't have time or money for paintballing anymore. And all the kids that would have replaced them were the age we started at when the recession hit, therefore they never got into it. Maybe that's the big problem. If that really is the case, whatever company wants to thrive right now better have a plan to get new kids into the sport, and have products that target the "not so rich" segment that a lot of us find ourselves in nowadays.

^^ That's basically why I slowed down ^^
When I was in middle/high school, all the money I got was spendable income.
Now I have to pay student loans (See: They occasionally let me keep a little bit of my paycheck), gas, bar tabs (Where the rest of the paycheck goes...)

My job is to be an asshole. I excel at the position.

Exactly.

I managed to escape the student loans by academic scholarship and working my ass off. But now I've got the house mortgage (cheap as rent around here though, so not a bad deal at all), my gas bill which grew a ton between a longer work commute and the price of fuel, and all sorts of other stuff.

Not to mention I need a new car soon.

There just isn't enough free cash left to be out at the field all the time.

My problem is, I work hourly wage. So if I want to take off time to play, I lose hours at work. That makes it doubly expensive to play.
So I take time for the bigger scenarios when I can, but rarely make it to the local field for some walk on play.

My job is to be an asshole. I excel at the position.

I start getting weekends off occasionally, so I could theoretically go play, and the local field catches a tornado and gets mauled.

It's a cosmic conspiracy.

Well, the Spam Bots seem to have found us again, so at least the staff has something to do now...
The folks that are left are so well behaved that we hardly ever have to use the Mod tools anymore....Im afraid I was getting a little rusty.

Well, the current SO is the third incarnation of SO. The SO you know from the "Glory Days" is dead and gone.

This makes me sad. SO in it's glory days was amazing.

^^^Speaking of dead forums, I see you still have the TDF logo in your sig! Now those were some good times...

I am one of those people who has literally never stopped reading the SO forums, but lately my post count is probably one or two a year or somewhere thereabouts...
