I looked in to the Magpul dynamics stuff and it loosk great. A lot of it looks instense, but is stuff I could still do on a range. I have some room to work with, but not as much as a lot of training videos seem to need. $40 is a bit steep, but I still want at least 1 DVD. lol

If we're recommending training material, I have to throw Dan Agakian into consideration. I haven't seen this particular one, but I have Gabe Suarez's AK DVD and Gabe/Infidel Media put out good stuff.

And worst case, you can always run some drills dry (please triple check that all magazines in the room are empty and that the rifle itself is empty, even better if you can get a second person to look as well). Practice moving and shooting, reloading (admittedly, this is a bit harder with an AR than with an AK since there is no bolt hold open on an AK), etc.

Gabe is great. And, well, I don't look cool enough to train with Costa.

But another good training facility/video series is Tactical Response. I have their Fighting Rifle DVDs (and Fighting Pistol as well, but that's another topic), and let me tell you James Yeager covers EVERYTHING. From setting up the rifle, all safety considerations, drills, manipulations, tactics for individual and team units, and even legal ramifications of deadly force use. He also makes no distinction between weapon platforms. He primarily uses ARs, but is a big proponent of the AK system as well.

I've seen some of the fighting hangun on youtube. =]

Opinions on the MBUS? I've seen good review and they look very practical.

 Well, join the club.
Although, if you watch the outtakes- especially the one video on Youtube from their new Tac Shotgun dvd- their just regular down to earth dudes. Doing stupid stuff just like everyone else. Which makes it even more priceless. ;)

Can't say on the Mbus. But lots of folks own them so info shouldn't be to hard to get. I know I'd get one if that's what I'd chosen.
Another review, just for fun- Military Moron Reviews.

I saw all the outtakes.

I read reviews on them and they were good. But like anything on the internet, that doesnt mean much. =p

The MBUS sighs offer the same style sight picture as A2 sights with decreased weight and profile. I've not seen any break or warp and they offer target acquisition same as the A2s. The cost is also a huge benefit. For the cost of a high dollar front or rear sight you can easily buy a complete MBUS set. also check these out: ARMS Tough Combat Polymer Sight

Great video on AR parts(in part 2 he talks a bit on things you should look out for when choosing rails:

Magpul's DVDs can be found on teh intarwebz if you really want to watch them.

"Everyone instantly jumps the conclusion that the government is out to get us." -- SWAT SAINT

"Good man, Duce, good man." -- Tryon

I am seriously concerned as to why the man in this video has his shorts unbuttoned. Does he love shooting that much?

Also, I must ask, why are the DPMS rifles a "run-away" rifle? I have heard they are pretty decent rifles? I too am looking to get an AR-15 sometime soon.. My local shop had a DPMS in and I played with it and it seemed pretty good? They wanted 700 bucks for it. I read a lot of good stuff in this thread.. I think I might have to go back and take notes!

Also, Will, I had no idea you were such a badass. A major in homeland security and stuff? Jealous.

EDIT: Will, Forget your future training

MaDuce: I've seen the intro's to a lot of stuff but I havn't been able to find the drills they do. To be fair though I've spent more time reading than watching videos. Ya'know, cuz I'm old and dont get that entrawebz shenanigans. :dodgy:

LoD:From what I've read, its a reliability thing. At that, a lot of it is a simple fix. However, a lot of those guys on some of these forums forget that the best isn't always available to everyone, and sometimes having a "cheap" rifle is better than not having a rifle at all.

I'm actually working on my minor in Conservation Law right now, which I think is more BA but I'll be getting done with that soon and hopefully starting Homeland Security this upcoming semester. I have a required class for Homeland Security that is dedicated to WMD's. Its going to be fun. =]

I'm thinking I may order this one in. MAYBE this if my local store can get it for 900 or so. Also, I posted this on my previous post, but I did not realize you had posted since then and this went on to a 2nd page (with my forum settings) so I will post it again here. Will, forget your training

I say, if you have the cheddar, look SERIOUSLY at Rock River rifles, uppers, and trigger groups. Pop a Rock River upper on a complete lower and you have a hella good rifle.

EDIT: Mid-length A4 for about 9 bones. One of the best deals you can get on a full rifle.

There are way too many AR brands and models on God's green earth for a highly indecisive person like myself. I'll never get an AR if I can't pick one. lol
