As many of you know, we have a fair amount of playable structure available throughout our 30-acre Themepark for Paintball™ here at XPX. We have everything from Killzone’s massively built-up berm and Headquarter’s center hyperpipe fort to Total Carnage’s multiple parked vehicles, Port of No Return’s boats and Fuel for War’s city and castle, along with everything in between! Needless to say, XPX is one place where variety is the name of the game. On any regular day a player will have the opportunity to play on most if not all of XPX’s wonderful woodsball fields, AND have the opportunity to play multiple game types on each individual field, adding even more variety to a day of play at XPX. Sure this is great and all… but don’t you want MORE? Well we wanna give you more!
What if, like all our big games, you could play unrestricted by individual field boundaries on all 30-acres of our park?!? Think about that for a second… you’re walking along a path you’ve walked a hundred times on our regular days, but THIS time you don’t know where the other team’s players are… all you know is that they are out there! You may think you know how to play woodsball, but this is a WHOLE new way to play the game. Your guard is up at all times… any bush you see could be a recon player in a ghillie suit who’s been sitting there for hours, just waiting for the perfect shot on a distracted opponent. Your regular Saturday or Sunday paintball tactics may have been to always play the tape-line in order to only have 180˚ to watch instead of a full 360˚, but how will you play without tapelines? How will you know who’s friendly and who’s enemy? Guess you’re gonna have to start thinking about all this huh?
Saturday, November 13th will continue a new way to play ball at XPX. We’re not hunting for Easter Eggs this time… we’re battling it out over real estate all day long! Here’s how the game will work: As you all know, we have plenty of interesting places to visit on our fields. I say let’s go visit them! At the beginning of the day we will organize into two separate teams, each with their own unique “insertion point” for the players of that team. At your team’s insertion point, there will be player cards available for you to pick up. (ONE CARD PER PLAYER!) Each player card will have a certain number of locations on it that must be visited by the player holding the card. When a player visits one of the point-of-interest locations on the field listed on the card, a referee at that location will mark that the player has indeed accomplished the objective of visiting that specific location. Once the player has visited all locations marked by their individual player card, that card is deemed “complete” and may be turned in to their team’s insertion point referee for points. (There will be opportunities for partially completed cards to be handed in for points, however those cards will obviously be worth less points than fully completed cards) While at the insertion point, the player may then grab another card and head back out to the field to complete that card as well, only to turn it in when complete and do it all over again! The difficult part is this: Your opponents will be attempting to accomplish the same objectives, at the exact same locations! This means that at any time on the playing field, you could run into the enemy at anywhere!! (I think we’re gonna need more paint.)
If any of you have every played any of our big games in the past you’re probably asking yourselves right now “what’s the catch?” Hahaha… well, I guess you know us too well! (It can never be that easy can it?) Well ‘ballers, here’s the catch: There will be two different types of locations listed on your player cards for each team to visit at all times, "even" locations and "odd" locations. Why you ask? Well, because one type of location can only be completed during “even” numbered hours (12:00, 2:00, 4:00) and the other can only be completed during “odd” numbered hours (11:00, 1:00, 3:00). This means that if you show up at an "even" location at exactly 11:01, you will have to wait until 12:00 for the referee to mark your card. Looks like timing just became an issue too huh?!?
So come on out to XPXFL this November 13th to see if you have what it takes to battle your way to victory!
