This is a review of the Empire Invert pants. I ordered the black/grey pants in a size medium.

First Impressions: When I first pulled the pants out of the box, I was impressed. The padding is great, and it seems as if Empire spared no expense in regards to materials. I tried to order the most subdued color I could, and I was impressed at how non-flashy these pants are. They are mostly black with grey and white only in the hip/thigh area. Empire claims their size medium to range from a 32"-36" waste. I wear a 31"-32" waste, and these pants fit me beautifully when tightened down. The ankle cinch cords do their job perfectly and keep the exess length at bay.

Construction/Materials: The best feature of these pants is, by far, the mesh material that lines the whole inside seem of the legs and crotch. Mesh spans from the ankle, all the way up to the crotch, and down the other leg. Let me put it this way; if there is even a small breeze, you'll feel it in all the right places. The knee pads consist of heavy material with internal padding. They allow you to kneel on hard surfaces without hurting your knees. Another great feature is the 4-way spandex that is strategically placed throughout the pants. The spandex is in places such as above the knee pad and below the butt pad. The spandex allows the pants to stay comfortable when you are kneeling, sitting, or whatever position you're in. The pants conform to your position. The spandex seems durable, and I think it would be a long time before it wears out. There is a heavily padded butt pad area that covers the whole hind quarters. The padding is great for when you are sitting, and I'm sure you'd have a tough time feeling a ball hit you if you took one to the tookus. Also, if you wear a pod pack, the padding should help keep your pack in place. The pants also have two swab pockets on the legs. The last feature, and one of the most important, is the wang protection pad. The groin/zipper area is heavily padded, and though I've never taken a hit to the nads, I'm sure this padding would prevent any pain assosiated with getting hit in the special area.

Field Test: I tested these for the first time on Saturday, and I was really impressed with the performance. The pants kept the air circulation coming, and if there was a breeze I felt it every time. The knee pads kept me comfortable during kneeling.

Conclusion: All-in-all, the Empire Invert pants are an incredible value. At about $65, they are a high end pant at a fairly low price. The pants performed perfectly (alliteration), and took everything I threw at them. I am very aggressive with my equipment, and it seems as if these pants will fit in very nicely to my gearbad.

I have these, I get a crapload of bounces off my knees. I would have liked more padding along the hip region, but I guess thats how they suck you in to buying slider shorts.

Also the pad on the butt region is meant for holding your pod pack securely.
