Yea, national guard started showing up around 7 last night. They have an evacuee camp right outside of my shop. It's crazy watching that thing evolve. I try to go over there whenever I have the chance to help out.

My sister is out in Oceanside, and my mom is freaking out because shes worried about her. I cant even imagine what it would be like over there right now.

The ones where I can't have my AR-15 in California without paying fees and registering it and getting rid of my 30 round magazines for 10 round magazines because it's an "assault rifle" by california law.

The ones where I can't concealed carry my handguns because I'm not a california resident and don't have "a good reason" to according to the california government

The ones where I have to get rid of my 12+ round pistol magazines for 10 round magazines.

The ones where I can't have a .50 caliber rifle if I so choose (though I don't think that one actually went into law)

Honestly, when do you NEED those things anyway? Unless your in the bad parts of LA you really don't.

Anyways, it really sucks for you guys down there. Yet another reason why I like it up here in the north. Not many huge wild fires up here. We get a few in the mountains but not that many. I think it's someones way of saying "don't live there"

Yea we get wildfires down here, but its especially bad this year because we've had a long drought, and then add that there are 4 large fires going at once. Not to mention the 40+mph Santa Ana winds... Normally they get it under control relatively quickly.

I recently read an article in the Local Newspaper at work the other day and it stated that more than a dozen Fire Teams from all over the San Francisco Bay Area were sent to So Cal to fight the Wild Fire also, I read another article in the same Newspaper that over 200K residents were ordered to evacute.

Damn, this reminds me of the Firestorm of the Oakland Hills back in the early 90's.

Yeah, we could see the smoke from the back porch of our house in the West Bay...it was eerie.

She should be ok. It's crazy out here though. Take the coverage they have on www.signonsandiego.com and you begin to get an idea. I heard they have flames jumping 100 ft a second!

here's the updated google map of it. The Witch fire has converged with 2 other fires, and is about to converge with another. it is 0% contained. The fire down south is expected to be contained by 31 october.

Pretty tough situation...news today says fire fighters have given up on containment...just fighting spot fires and for whatever homes they can save...they expect fire to burn all the way to the ocean. Without some help from Mother Nature, it's pretty much out of their hands.
