Midnight Phenom is rite about the distance and when there walking away from u.If someone is more then 50 feet away i dont bother shooting at them.Id rather get closer, the chances of hitting them r better and the chances of ball breaks r better.

Agreed!

Once they are 20-30 feet PAST you, take your shot. I prefer double taps, or controlled pairs for the politically correct, in case you dont get a break on your first ball.

One you DO take out the first OpFor, you have some decisions to make. If you are facing a significantly large number of OpFor and you have no backup, perhaps you should not have taken the shot at all:P Radio to your teammates their position and heading and call it good.

If you have no teammates, you have to choose quickly--bail to a different position or continue to take shots. Bailing to a different position works well if you have had the time to pre-determine fall back/cover points in the area--chances are the OpFor are too busy diving for cover and screaming "Sniper!!" to really notice your movement. Then you get to do it all again:)

If you choose to continue to take shots, eliminate the OpFor who has the best chance of seeing you--identifying where shots are coming from, especially double taps, is tough in the woods. If you can keep them from getting a visual on your location, you are in much better shape.

In reality tho, a sniper, or as I prefer to be called a sharpshooter, is best used in conjunction with a squad. You set yourself up, radio in positions, wait for your backup squad to move to support you, then take your shot. As they madly dive for cover and/or search about for you, your backup squad hammers them with firepower. When they run about dealing with THAT, you take more controlled pairs on their unsuspecting, disorganized keisters:)

i thought i read the second the enemy is leaving your position/ parallel. and u nail em from the side..

theyre not really supposed to walk past u... it should be

-----------------------------you---------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------ur base

-------------------------------them------------------------

where i put the "them" is right when u shoot.... distance is wherever they happen to be if u want to take the shot

it shouldnt be
-----------------------------you---------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------ur base

--------------------------------------------them-----------

nah, ace...yer wrong...well maybe not wrong, you can technically engage at any position they are in relation to you, it just makes much more sense to wait until they pass you...that way if your linked to a squad, you've instantly made the ideal of good cover blow out the window for the opfor.... as they are confused from the shot in the back by sniper fire, they will most likely turn around, exposing their back to your squad, who is just to the rear of your position(however your position is set up...) becoming eliminated, which is a product of their own fear of sniper fire, instead of keeping their head on straight and focusing 360* rather than the general 180* that your sniper fire came from

yea ace cuz think about it if there like 15 ft and u take the shot most likely 1 of the squad will be able to figure out were u generaly are and then they can jus lay down some paint rite were the noise came from....so yea...they should be past u....not parralel from u

i agree with everyone except ace. Wait for them to get past you, but i like to take shots from about 30-40 feet. but then again thats just personal preference.

if it's one person. closer ranges are the way to go. small groups i usually take shots at about 90-95 feet (a little extreme) and in quick 3 round bursts for each person. honestly i think 20-40 ft is cutting it close because i'd like some room to get away after i shoot. if you go above 130 feet you're bound to miss 8/10 shots. i tend to go for longer range shots because i've had plenty of practice with them

watch the tactics guide.. it says to ambush right when theyre leaving ur position, and the video is right when the squad passes the "sniper"

and i never said parallel, i said right past ur parallel, which is what specops says...

and take the captains test, when is the right time to spring an ambush if ur sniping

a: right when theyre leaving ur position, which is right in front of u, parallel

so im not wrong...

they should be anywhere from the first (them) to the last (them)
the distance can be anywhere from 50-90 feet for a group but
if its just a lone player maybe about 20-40 feet.

but thats just how i do things and everyone is diffrent.

EDIT: sorry about the underlines. my beutiful picture wouldn't work without them :D

i mean like,

you
--|---------------------------------them...
--|
--|
--|
--|
ur position is the |'s

happy? it says ur sposed to shoot them right as theyre leaving ur position.. witch is where u are, but anywhere across the field...
it says not to shoot them when theyre walking away..so obviously im right if im just saying *exactly* what they said and they made the guidelines... its something about them not expecting to be shot from where they just checked, because theyll fokus more on watchin their backs, and the front...

=----- and yes, i liked ur avvy, srry
