So.. I haven't played for a few years and my Profiler mask has been sitting on top of my book case in it's bag.
Do i need to replace the lens before playing again?

Hate to disagree with you kaaltu, but he might need to replace it.

How long is "a few years"?
If it's been more than 3 years I'd replace it anyway, better to err on the side of caution

Have you checked the lens closely for any scratches, cracks and discolouration?
Scratches may not be a problem depending on length and depth, but again time can still be a factor. Cracks and discolouration are definite signs the plastics breaking down.

Did you take a direct shot to the lens before it was put away?
A close range hit can weaken the lens and should be replaced, especially if it's been sitting for a few years.

need to, probably not if its in good condition but I would recommend replacing them.
I go through a few in a year and NEVER want to find out when one too many direct hits is too many.

LOL ... meh, i am used to it ... i get people telling me i am wrong all the time .. haha

I dont think the lens polymer materials break down over time ( at least not a few years ), but that is strictly a personal opinion. I guess it would be best to get the recommendations from the mask manufacturer. It could be that the strength integrity lessens after a few years. The other arguments mentioned make good points as well ... was it scratched up, or in need of replacement before it was stored away, did you take a lot of hits to the lens previously ?

I guess you could set it up in the back yard, stand a few yards away, and blast away at it to see if it holds up, ... but after all that, you might want to replace it anyway .. lol
