For the woods you really want a good agressive tread pattern with a flexable sole. The Nike LandShark and Under Armor Hammer are both good examples of a flexible rubber soled football cleat. I have used both for multiple years and personally I like the Under Armor Hammer much better over the Nike.

But I have found the best possible shoe for myself in paintball to be the Inov8 X Talon 212 or 240. The 212 is a low top and the 240 a high top.
They feel like your are wearing slipers! The model number is the weight of the shoe in grams, so my 212's...both shoes together weigh less than a cell phone!
Wide lug spacing keeps them from loading up on mud and the fabric they are made out of dries very quickly when you get them wet so they are not a problem in water crossings or playing in mud.
The traction is unmatched by any other cleat I have played in over the last ten years.
I have had my current pair nearly a full season and they are still going strong.

If you are serious about how your shoes perform for you....try the Inov8 X Talon.

I used to play with an old pair of combat boots I got off of a friend. They didn't fit perfectly but they were free. Eventually I picked up a pair of Maverick hiking boots and haven't looked back. They're super comfortable and give plenty of ankle support. Really good for woodsball.

closest to barefeet as i can get without being banned from a kitchen....for now I play barefooted but these would replace all my other shoes

i have three pairs of vibrams now. Two KSO's (blue and black pair), and a set of the Trek KSO's made out of Kangaroo skin with thicker soles for hiking. XD I love them and wear them everyday. XD Best shoes i own. Haven't warn em balling though cause like i said above, i stumble, fall, and stub my toe all over the time paintballing...stubbing your toe in them hurts...like a lot.

Their home office is like 45 min drive from me. I love it, i order their shoes and have them next day with the cheapest shipping. XD They are very durable and solid. But take some getting used to. I swear by them now. But the first few days/weeks wearing em you will feel wierd and your legs may get sore from working muscles you don't normally work when wearing shoes. Yeah they are very price for what little in actual size and material they are...but after wearing em for a bit you will wonder how come you didn't sooner. :P

Currently I wear Bates Tactical Sport side zip boots. Before that it was my old black Army issue boots. I am running low on issued boots since I have been out a few years. At least I know I can still get some good tactical boots though.

I use a good pair of lightweight hunting shoes.

I've been really interested in Vibrams ever since a buddy of mine showed me a pair at work one day. From the love they seem to be getting here I think I might look into getting a pair.
And plus I enjoy getting weird looks from people :)

People will stare...and stare a lot. I have walked into ATMs and stuff and had a few people only looking at my feet the whole time with this look of 0_o LOL. Just make sure to measure for your foot right, or find them in stores and try it on.

Irish Mack has it right... i'm all about vibram 5 fingers.

Honestly they are the best shoes to paintball in. I love them so much. the only problem is on very wet days your feet get cold very quickly. other than that, they can't be beat.

5 fingers ftw!!!

I am throughly jealous, I'm assuming if I got them I would probably be just fine anyways as far as the muscles are concerned...I played 8 hrs of paintball the other day barefooted, used to do all of my baseball and soccer practices barefoot, and only ever go for walks barefooted. Only time that I wear shoes are if I'm in the store, or if I'm at school. I might try to put them on for my wishlist for my birthday or something. I actually have never twisted my ankle or anything while barefooted, but within 5 minutes of putting my shoes on I will trip over something.

I have to wear shoes in order to walk correctly.

I have an inverted arch...meaning flat foot people have a better instep than myself! I wear corrective plates inside my shoe that keep my leg in proper alignment when i take a step.
Without these plates every step I take forces my knee cap to cut through my Meniscus. After a bit that becomes a little painfull.

As much as I would love to I will not be able to wear the 5 fingers. They look great but until I can have my foot vacume molded whith my plates I have to stick with normal shoes!

im flat footed, but constantly walk around barefoot(im a boater). it hurts my feet if i wear shoes too long. and as far as knees go my one knee is screwed up completly they might have to do surgery one it (great for a 16 year old).

I wear Converse tac boots. The pair I wear for paintball used to be my work boots before I bought another set for working on the bus
