Well, it's December, and 2007 is finally drawing to a close. And what a hell of a year for music it's been! As well as Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Police, Genesis and The Sex Pistols reforming, The Arctic Monkeys released their second stellar album "Favourite Worst Nightmare" and Radiohead exceeded all expectations once again with their new album "In Rainbows".

But what's your favourite songs of the year so far? List as many or as few as you like.
Here's some of mine:

Baby Fratelli - The Fratellis
http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=gqAJrIYjCLM (ooh, Hot Fuzz)

Flathead - The Fratellis
http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=pKQK8rYZNHY

Take Her Back - The Pigeon Detectives
http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=SuyNnm0lwBw

Johnny Sniper - Enter Shikari
http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=dWbJKOThJAg (warning aquired taste)

Fluorescent Adolescent - Arctic Monkeys
(I'd post the video but it's basically a violent gangwar between mafia gangsters and... clowns? What the hell?)

Happy Ending - Mika
http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=Sl4WN-aOWDY (Warning - popsong! But one of the best I've ever heard.)

Icky Thump - The White Stripes
http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=5Jy0hpoWaaI

Invincible - Muse
http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=Jwed_2Y8Ypw

Away From Here - The Enemy
http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=7ZCVds_Q3WE

Generator - Holloways
http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=8EyOlP9IyFg (happiest song I've heard in years)

Hospital Beds - Cold War Kids
http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=eH-Yeh3fEsk (one of the best songs I've ever heard.)

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, I'm sure there's more great songs out this year though.
So, thoughts anyone?

I heard Slipknot is also coming out with an album, and that Slash is going to be releasing a solo album. Or maybe that GnR is making one more record. Next year is gonna be awesome too I guess :).

Best song '07? Maybe Evolution from Slipknot?

If they're the only bands you recognise then trust me, you aren't getting to the good stuff. You're missing out, try some of the links :)

Come on people, surely you must have a favourite song of 07?
Did your favourite band make a great single? Did you find a decent new band through a popular song? Come on, post em.

Sorry lemming, I can't say I agree with your picks. Nothing against those bands, they're okay, but not the best of the year.

  • My picks for the Best songs:
    • 'Ten Ton Brick' and 'alone with the sea' by Hurt
    • 'Zzyzx Road' by Stone Sour
    • 'Breakdown' and 'Waste' by Seether
    • 'Laughed until we cried' by Jason Aldean (had to put one country in there)

  • My picks for the worst songs:
    • Linkin park's entire CD 'Minutes to Midnight'
    • 'I don't wanna stop' by Ozzy Osbourne

  • My Pick for best CD:
    • Led Zepplin- 'Mothership (Remastered)' (LZ's triumphant migration to iTunes)
    • Seether- 'Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces'
    • Hellyeah- 'Hellyeah'
    • Finger Eleven- 'Them vs. You vs. Me'

  • Worst Artist:
    • DJ Khaled (namely because he took rappers, who were actually good, compiled their verses, and slapped his name on top to take the credit. all he did was intros to the songs, and screamed 'we're taking over!' to start each song he made.)
    • The Killers (They're still here?)
    • Korn (oh, how the mighty have fallen.... it's a damn shame)

That's all I can think of as of now... I might mod the list later.

ah man, how can you knock Invincible, Away From Here and Hospital Beds :P they're the classics of this decade, imo anyway.
I actually like your choices though, apart from the country one.

Linkin Park's whole album? I agree, EXCEPT Hands Held High.
I forgot to include that as one of my fav songs... out of the smoking wreck that was Minutes To Midnight this is the only survivor. A 3 year wait and 6 cack songs before it were worth it just to listen to that song, I love that song to pieces. The rest was shocking though.

Also I'm glad I can find someone who agrees with me on The Killers. First album? Fairly decent, far from mindblowing but several decent songs. Sam's Town? Rubbish change of style and generally poor songs.

Come on though, listen to Hospital Beds, Invincible and Away From Here again. You sure you wouldn't include those? I'd definitely say they're in the top 10 at least.

sorry, I just can't get into those songs. They're not bad, like I said, but it's not my type of music.

Its alright. I dont like singing/screaming mixed though. I'd listen to it if I was in a 'regular' hard rock mood.

Confrontation by Otep is a great song, but most people here wouldnt like it except Legs. :P
