and after some googling... i found this.... http://www.pntball.com/Items/5719200...0Gun%20Package

how is this? and it is still a little much ($40 too much) is $100 possible?

The link is coming up as "bad request" for me.

Generally speaking, the starter kits are pretty decent at getting you started players. The biggest downside to them is that they come with really inferior masks. A mask will be the single most important piece of gear, if it fogs or is uncomfortable everything else including your day of paintball suffers as a result. Personally, if it's at all possible I really recommend trying to save up a little more so you can get some nicer gear. Markers sold new for under $100 are generally very poor in quality and performance. They work well enough out of the box, but they suffer from reliability issues after use as the cheap parts they contain begin to wear prematurely.

If you're looking at getting something for cheap try looking at getting deals on places like eBay or Craigslist. Many times you can find players that are selling their entire setup and you can get and entire package for far less than the pieces would cost individually.

For an example, After just searching for a couple minutes I found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/paintball-marker-tippm...1QQcmdZViewItem

All together the items are worth well over $300. The marker itself a 68 carbine is excellent and should last you a several years. Even the mask is good - just be sure to replace the lens.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but your not going to find much for $100 and what you will find will most likely be crap. Actionvillage.com has a few package deals in your price range, there's also EBay. $100-$150 will get you into the sport, but before long you'll be wanting to get something else. The mask alone will cost you half of what your wanting to spend, for a good one that is, and most markers under $100 are not going to be all that great. However, you could buy a spyder with a standard hopper for under $100 and then buy a mask for $40-$60.

As for the marker in the link yu have, I can't say, as the link doesn't seem to work.

If you find something else, post a link, making sure it works, and I'm sure someone will let you know if it's a good buy.

To help the kid out... He means THIS package...

It would an OK starter package. Come on - tell us what kind of game play you are interested in and maybe someone can suggest something better or have something to sell you used that would better fit you.

Ultimate Paintball has better deals on EBay.

Do some browsing on Ebay and you'll find some good deals on new packages for under $150.

Here is another place that sells this kit. It is about $30.00 cheaper. I bought an Apex barrel from this place without any problems. Someone I know got a BT-16 from them also. He seems to think that Firstcall Paintball sells seconds as his BT-16 needed to have some flashing removed off the front of the powertube (where the front bolt rides). I wish I had looked at it myself as it may be possible that it was just one of the imperfections that are common on mass-produced markers. His BT-16 does shoot normally now though, and Firstcall Paintball has excellent feedback.

With a little patience though, it may be possible to get a much better set-up used via Ebay.

I might add the recommendation of looking for a gun/hopper/tank package for $70.00 or so. This will leave about $30.00 to $40.00 in the budget for a decent mask.

Not to dis you on what you found/recomend, but I would like to add that the marker in that package is a refurb. That is something some people wouldn't like, but may miss when reading the auction details.

The top two marker packages I have in my last post, while they cost more, have Brand New Pilot markers with a 1 year warranty instead of refurbs with a 30 day warranty.

You can buy better if your willing to spend nearly $200 like it will cost if you buy that package deal.

I notice that most of your focus is on Spyder products. Perhaps it might be a good idea to post a thread in the Spyder section as the people who frequent that area are likely to be more knowledgable about Spyders.

not really, i think most of them are.... but it just looks that they make the most packs.....
which gun of the few different packages is really the best? and then the question about the electronic hoppers.... oh, and what does an electronic gun mean? (obv it needs batteries)
