It's Apple. Which means it's gimmicky, flashy, and nowhere near as good as a major competing product that doesn't get as much media attention.

Yeah, that's what the commercial said.

The iPhone was the first. So it follows that competing products will be better since they know what they need to do to beat the iPhone.

One would assume that new version would be improved, as well. But being paintballers we know how that usually goes.

The one with the Windows software? Sure, it has tons of features, but I heard the software is a female dog.

Not true at all. The iPhone is an excellent phone, but still don't like them because they're Apple's product. I don't like the support for them at all. But yeah, the new one is shaping up to be a whole lot better. Though they could've released the iPhone with 3G capabilities from the get-go, but where would the money be in that? None. Also, I read the article today at work (it's my job to know this stuff), and they said the iPhone's prices will drop, but they never said WHICH iPhone price will drop. I'm betting the EDGE version will be a lot cheaper than the 3G model, but of course everyone's going to talk up how way more "special" the 3G model is... and cahrge just as much, if not MORE than the amount the original cost.

Props to Apple for the graphics on that beast though.

And yes, I am anxious to see Samsung's new touch phone that they're coming out for the GSM market. Sprint is getting the Instinct, so I'm curious to see how that'll go. Though it may just be a Glyde on Sprint's network. But eh, won't know until the reviews are in.

On a side note: I'm curious to see what Apple will do when it's contract with AT&T is up. I wonder if they'll pull a Samsung ACE and get the phone to use both CDMA and GSM towers...

That really only happens when someone gets a phone and goes, "Oh no no no, I won't ever use the internet." Then guess what? Yup. They're on the internet on that thing all day everyday. THAT'S why phone bills get jacked up so much. Well, that and pro-rating (which I think is bull poo anyways). So more the most part, it's not the company, it's the dumb butt consumer who doesn't know what they're doing because they don't take the time to learn about the stuff that they're dealing with.

Contracts, serious buisness.

Yeah too bad all the iPhone contracts have unlimited data included.

Not all. You can get it unlocked and whatnot. Either that or the activation of the plan can get messed up. So you'd still have internet access, but you'd be paying a lot for it.

Remember, company locks really only exist in either the US or North America. Once you leave here, phone A will work with company B as long as it's a quad band GSM type phone and sim card.

I might buy one from France, the EU rules there make it against the law to lock phones, so the iPhone can be used on any network.
Why can't we have those rules here? ;)

As for the product itself. It looks good, it works well and the software io nice, and it's not too expensive now.
I have nothing against it. :D

EDIT: As for the talk of "iPhone killers"... Yeah there will be better phones out there. But I don't think they will "kill" iPhone. I think too many people see Apple as the best product, and a lot of people will simply buy on aesthetics. They have a big cult sort of following now, and they have a great public image and brand perception for the most part, I don't think they'll get outsold to be honest.

From what I've read, the 3G is supposed to be Apple's answer to the Blackberry. Apple wants to bring the iPhone to the business world, which is why there is supposed to be better wireless capability and 'business oriented' software.

EDIT: Sorry, It's the '3G' not the 'G3'
