Anyone see it? I was kind of suprised and i think its a bad thing personally. Also, does anyone know if there's a penalty for removing it? I know in airsoft [in R.I anyways] that removing an orange tip on an airsoft gun is considered a felony.

Some pics of the M4 have an orange tip, others don't. I should have one in a couple of weeks and I can let you know.

Even in their own ads it's contradictory:

Makes me wonder if it might be some kind of barrel plug.

In any case, if you put an aftermarket barrel on, none of them will have an orange tip - so I can't really imagine it's illegal to remove that.

I guess that's a pretty new version or the old ones just come up first on google.

EDIT: EKO Valve??? DOUBLE air efficiency? How??! I'll believe it when I see it :P In any case, that's totally assuming its a blowback (though it seems to be open bolt).

I wonder if the tip is a regional thing. Australia, Germany or what have you.

It's illegal to remove an orange tip in California.

O no all the snipers will totally get spotted now by the scouts from the op4.

I cant imagine if you painted it anything would happen. But if you decide to keep it in your car and got pulled over and a cop shot you then he wouldnt get in trouble, other than that I doubt someone is going to spend the time to arrest you for painting the tip on a bad mil replica.

i have actually almost been shot by a cop over milsim paintball markers. a buddy and i (he's dead now,) were transferring our gear from his mom's car into mine at a mcdonalds a mile or two from the field we were going to. a cop drove up into the drive thru line, and after she drove off, he pulled out, stopped behind my car, got out with his hand on his gun, and asked us both to stand by the front of my car. it didnt help that we were both in full battle rattle either.

he opened the trunk, inspected, and finally let us talk. needless to say if he had snuk up on us or something, there might've been bullets in the air. the orange tip isnt a bad idea especially for store display, or shipping. and i imagine an aftermarket barrel (something that should be done anyways) would take off the orange tip.

paintball markers arent the most realistic looking thing, but most milsims are close enough at a glance, and especially to the unsuspecting or untrained eye.

and oh yea, everyone inside the macdonalds was glued to the glass in suspense at the two large, militaristic looking tattooed white dudes getting hassled by the cops.

White dudes...always ruining it for the rest of us. :dodgy:

The orange tip might just be a PR move on Kingman's part. I don't know about the orange tip in paintball, never seen it before. But in airsoft i know that if it comes with an orange tip, you can't paint over it.

I've got a buddy with a fairly new MR4 and I'm 90% certain the 'orange tip' is a barrel plug. I've seen one on his gun that has the elastic ties to hold it like a barrel condom or what have you but you need to remove it to fire.

I checked for pics of it but I couldn't find any... sorry.

Seems that in most states, the orange tip is only required for sale, transporting, or import of airsoft "toy guns". If the airsoft gun is legal to own in your state, most states don't have laws on the books regarding removal or painting of the orange tip, with one exception being California. I don't think you'd be arrested solely for possession, but if you were engaged in other unlawful or disorderly conduct you might be, in addition to any citations or fines associated with owning an improperly marked barrel.

I bought a 16 inch straight-rifled paintball barrel (for my T68 pistol-sniper mod) from RAP4 (based in California) over a year ago, and the website displayed a non-orange tipped barrel. However, when I purchased it, I recall there was a warning during checkout about removing or painting the orange tip. I was expecting to receive a barrel with an orange tip that I was going to have to paint, however, mine arrived without an orange tip. I guess if the barrel ship to destination was a California address, I might have received an orange tipped barrel.

As far as california is concerned, it is only illegal to modify or change the orange tip. So if you were to replace the barrel with an aftermarket barrel that did not have an orange tip you may only have to worry about cops THINKING you painted over the orange tip. Sometimes an officer will have a different interpretation of the law than the average joe though...so if in doubt do the thing that will leave you with the least amount of problems(leave an orange tip on for transfer and switch out the barrels after you're on the field).

I got mine today.

It's not an orange tip like Airsoft guns have. It's just a small strip of orange tape that 's easily removable. I took mine off.

I just literally opened it so no idea about how it shoots.
