It looks as though you sunk your 4x4's in the ground, is that true??

I like how you have the trusses notched on the top plate and cut the ends for the fascia.

On your 2 load supporting walls( the ones where the joist set on the walls), your windows have no header. And there is no jack stud under the 2x4 that you have as a header above your window. Now I know its just a tree house, and it is supporting little to no weight, but its just proper building code:) But other than that, everything looks great. Is your joist 2 foot on center or just 16 inch on center. And you could have gotten away with 2x4 for joist, but you wont hear any complaints from me about using 2x6.

Are you going to insulate the thing too?

Freestanding like it is, putting the posts into the ground was a must. They are sunk down to the frost line. Not doing so would cause it to move, and fall apart.

I didn't put cripples under my headers because, as you said, it is a treehouse, and the roof has little to no weight. I've stood my fat butt up there several times and it is plenty strong enough to hold me.

I used 2x6 joists because that is what I had. Most of my material was 2x6. I ripped the studs from 2x6's to make 2x3's, which is plenty strong. The two windows are in walls that are not load-bearing, and the one hole that is in one of the load bearing walls is next to the corner that is reinforced. (That hole, BTW, is the exit to the tunnel.) The floor joists and the rafters (not trusses ;) ) are 16"OC.

The picture and the video do not include the OSB sheathing i've added to the walls to remove flex, add strength, and be support for the vinyl siding. There will be no insulation, nor drywall. It will be weatherproof, but not a mini-house. It is for play, and to camp out in during warmer months. I wanted it to be awesome, but deliberately not THAT fancy.

Oh, did I mention to everyone that this entire project is going to run me less than $500 completed? That's the best part.

Technically you could go both ways on rafters and trusses cause you dont have ceiling joist.

$500 aint bad, free is always better :)

Prefab playforts of this magnitude don't exist because none are weatherproof. ;) But the nearest equivalent runs around $2G

Make a rope bridge to the tree, and have a platform going around it complete with walls, for sheer awesomeness.
