I recently had the urge to know, and while not sharing my opinion... do you think if the any of the following match, a person looks silly/stupid/ or any other negative words. Or the opposite..

-Pants
-Jersey
-Marker
-Hopper
-Mask (or lens, or combo)

No, having the colors of your gear match, to an extent, is perfectly fine and personally I tend to like having a matching color scheme. Now this could be taken to an etreme and look kinda funny if, for instance, someone chose to go with an odd color and everything was in this solid color from head to toe. For example, if I saw someone wearing a solid purple mask w/ purple lens, solid purple shirt, solid purple gloves, solid purple pants, solid purple socks, and solid purple shoes shooting a solid purple marker with a solid purple hopper/loader and solid purple tank then I'd be thinking, "What the, that person has got some serious issues."

If there are other colors mixed in then it can look good. But if it is all from the same company(ie. matching dye pants and jersey, DM9, I4's, Rotor, gloves etc...) then it looks dumb.

I prefer things at least look well together, as long as things don't clash horribly.

But no, they don't have to match perfectly.

Camo aside, I'd go with no. I agree with ^!), if sponsored then sure but just buying matching gear seems superficial (as in your trying to look pro through your gear, not your actions).

EDIT: Addition of text.

Agree with Ghost and T. If it matches w/ style, colour and cosmetically then cool, but all matching branded wear is bunk.

I think the one word i can say to contradict you would be 'Proto', maybe people, like me, look to proto as a great company, like the welfare of dye... so if you must, why not buy a set of matching proto pants and jersey?

My jersey and pants are both red... nothing else I own is though. The rest is black or grey for the most part, except for my PM8, which is pewter/yellow. And it's not all from the same company - although it seems most of my stuff now is Dye/Proto, and most of what isn't is Empire... I only realized that maybe two weeks ago :P.
