"TRY BEFORE YOU BUY"
I couldn't agree more. One factor alot of people fail to consider when plunking down $$$ for a gun is COMFORT! What good is fast shooting expensive gun if the frame wears a hole in the thumb of your glove & gives you blister every day you play? Or if its too heavy? Or the grip is too big? Or if you have to keep your left arm just a little bit too far forward & your arm gets tired too soon?
These are all things to be considered. I would rather play with a gun that feels right in hands...

and Newbies: listen to Tenacious, for he is wise in the ways of paintball.

this is a great post, but it doesn't seem to be working very well. We have at least 2 which is better thread active in the Newbies Corner right now. But now that I have found this post the first thing I'm going to tell the people who come up with a "Which is better thread" is to check out this article and give them the link. In fact I'll put it in my sig. I think this is a very important thread.

In 1970 the Chevy Nova was created. This was the worst selling car in Mexico because the words "No va" mean "Doesn't go". If you would never buy a Saturn Ion because the word "Ion" means "Doesn't shoot", Put this in your profile

couldn't agree more. I was really going for an MR1 until I actually handled it, didn't like it. (still think spyder is perfectly good though, that's what my other gun is.) do as much research as you can don't buy blind. and another tip, "be patient, save your money, and buy the better one".

my field lets you play with the gun in a game to see how she runs, then you can put a down-payment on it and you can use it to play with....but you have to leave it at the proshop.

For guns: realize older designs are more reliable, but newer guns are more upgradeable and usually perform better. Can't break an automag or a spyder, but a Ion is faster. A Bushmaster or intimidator or Promaster is a nice blend, both a tried and true design, and reliable, but with modern speed. I love the Promaster as a cheap electro that can keep up with an Ion. Heck, a tourny caps the ROF at 15.4bps anyways... I've shot a mech that fast once. So don't worry about speed, worry about feel.

GO OUT AND TRY THESE PRODUCTS FOR YOURSELF AT ALL POSSIBLE!

I see at least three threads of "Which should I get?"... if they only follow the single quote above (more importantly the entire first post)... we'd see fewer of these and the decision would be much easier to make for them.

Here's one of the better-mannered debates on barrels. I obviously started strongly to one side of the argument, and later amended my position as additional information made itself available. If nothing else, something to think about.
